There is an internet vandal who defaces Free Republic with very gross pictures (homosexual sex and stuff from rotton.com) as well as posting "ALL YOU F***** N*****S & JEWS SHOULD BE LYNCHED".
He pings a variety of people to his post, ensuring that the trash is still in their My Posts lists.
To me, this isn't the milder form of harassment that Eschoir engaged in so many years ago. The very worst he would do is ask if you ever committed sodomy, and he once used the screen name "Paula Jones Tw*t". This is mild.
What this sick piece of work is doing is much more egregious. I believe it crosses the line into criminal defacement and restraint of trade. Are there any Free Republic lawyers (especially prosecutors) who can address this issue, and are there any private detectives with internet savvy that will help track the identity of this person down?
Heh. I was wondering if that was you.
. . . why should he get to hog all the fun ?
I didn't notice the day. Were you getting it before that?
Dear SJackson,
I note that your links indicate that it is a difficult area in which to prosecute. I note as well, from the ADL site, this:
"Blanket statements expressing hatred of an ethnic, racial or religious nature are protected by the First Amendment, even if those statements mention individual people and even if they cause distress in those individuals."
I think that unless specific threats were made pretty specifically, and with a high degree of credibility (two factors cited by the ADL link), the disruptor would likely skate.
I also noted that many of the forms of redress are civil in nature, few of them are criminal. As I said, I think a civil suit is probably not that tough to make out.
But I'm skeptical that any prosecutor will take the case.

Don't tell anyone, but the CIA gets their info from FreeRepublic. ;)
Spot on! You are correct, sir!
Whoever is the resident detective here please freepmail me, I may have some important info on what may be an undercover troll who visits and has posted from rotten.com and has trolled for young boys on the net.
It's a first for me, too.
In general I don't like them either. I do think there's a place for prosecuting incitement to violence, which he approaches but probably doesn't cross yet, though that exists outside "hate crime" legislation, though with more difficulty.
My comment on the irony is rest's on the fact that it's not the incitement that disturbs most posters, rather disruption of the site, certainly a legitimate civil issue, and the posting of pornography in a racially charged format. Disgusting, but likely only prosecutable as a "hate crime".
bttt!!!
You didn't ask me but I'll bump it for ya.
You sure he ain't just comming on to you?
I'd say the probability approaches zero. There's nothing here, barring more specificity, kill SJackson rather than kill the Jews, which I doubt would even be enough, or direct action.
I won't even touch the liklihood of most prosecutors taking a difficult to prove case essentially in defense of the "vast right wing conspiracy".
Yes, for awhile. I remember him adding a couple people after that thread. I'd go back and look, but I don't think the recipients names are visible anymore.
Wow!
How awful...
I've never saw him, but I agree that someone needs to have a come to Jesus meeting with him.

That would be another possible solution - if you could trace him to something more prosecutble. Besides if he is trying to pick up little boys he needs to go to jail or worse anyway.
But I'm new here and not the right person to address that to.
Good luck.
Makes me not want to check my pings anymore. :-(
The idea is to cause you not to post on certain topics anymore, but not checking your pings works for him too.
