There is an internet vandal who defaces Free Republic with very gross pictures (homosexual sex and stuff from rotton.com) as well as posting "ALL YOU F***** N*****S & JEWS SHOULD BE LYNCHED".
He pings a variety of people to his post, ensuring that the trash is still in their My Posts lists.
To me, this isn't the milder form of harassment that Eschoir engaged in so many years ago. The very worst he would do is ask if you ever committed sodomy, and he once used the screen name "Paula Jones Tw*t". This is mild.
What this sick piece of work is doing is much more egregious. I believe it crosses the line into criminal defacement and restraint of trade. Are there any Free Republic lawyers (especially prosecutors) who can address this issue, and are there any private detectives with internet savvy that will help track the identity of this person down?
Usually that's an unuathorized use, by cracking or stealing passwords. No such thing occured here. He jumped through the right hoops to become, if briefly, an authorized user. Our recourse is to delete his posts and remove his account, and ban his IP address.
Since you and the others have been targeted, wouldn't that constitute as harrassment OR stalking????

Valin, TMP02 is a respected freeper who was trying to get the mods' attention since the offending post was not deleted quickly after hitting abuse.

I suppose that's possible, too. I'd hate to think that any Freeper would stoop to such stuff, though.

I hope so, because I am 100% serious and I will not let go of this, until he's identified and prosecuted. I'm going to see if I can huddle with the moderators and formulate a plan of action. I'm pretty good with computers, you know.

Any chance of adding a feature so that when you check your "pings", you can delete specific ones without deleting the comment from the thread it exists on? It would almost be akin to a filter or block of some sort when you look at your own comments. Just an idea.
Free Republic just needs an /ignore feature so you whiners can just filter him out.

I would think so. But once he's found, sending someone to break his kneecaps (and his computer) with a Louisville Slugger is probably cheaper than suing him into oblivion.

He didn't "break in," he was an authorized user, so we can't get him for hacking.
It was political speech, so I don't think we can get him on obscenity.
JimRob has every right to kick him out - you're right. Freedom of speech guarantees no one a forum. But that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about a criminal prosecution. I see that as tricky.

Sadly, I do understand that is the point. I do enjoy FR too much to quit coming, but have we really gotten to the point where there is nothing that can be done to stop innocent people from being forced to view such stuff? Is this what freedom of speech is all about?
So are we finally helpless to keep this stuff out of our homes? Surely, this must be what Soddom & Gomorrah was like in it's last days.

Whiners? Did you see the posts in question? Nobody's whining here. We're really ticked off at this person, and for legitimate reasons.
I have it you all, since minors are allowed on this site couldn't he be charged with providing pornography to minors, just a thought.
