Never has our nation been more united than in our current consensus that Jennifer Wilbanks is officially coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. Im talkin coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. Yknow, we cant seem to harmonize over Iraq, judicial nominees, or what to do with social security, but we have formally joined in one accord and have spewed our national coffee over the goggle-eyed runaway bride, aka, Jenny from Georgia. It seems as if this Georgia peach has officially begun to turn.
For what its worth, heres what I propose we require of this damsel whos hanging on by a thin wire: 1. I think we should not accept the apology she gave last Thursday until we get to see her self-inflicted hair-do. 2. I think she should also apologize to Hispanic men everywhere for accusing one of them of her feigned abduction. As a Caucasian male, I think I can speak for my Latino hermanos by saying as if! Pamela Anderson, maybe. Jennifer Wilbanks yeah right. 3. I think her apology was a little thin on Thursday and didnt do justice to the distraction she caused Gwinnett law enforcers from pursuing real missing persons and criminals versus looking for this spoiled ham. 4. In addition, I think for the next ten years Jenny should be forced to slog through Georgian bogs to look for any lost persons, pets, or coins without being afforded waders, a compass, a GPS, sunscreen, or Deep Woods Off. 5. Lastly, Im sensing Jenny needs a good ole-fashion exorcism. And I think we deserve, if we desire, to watch it. Her Pastor stated that she needs some spiritual counseling and is going through a rough time. Ya think? Its beyond that, my brother.
Jennifer
whats up, girl? What were you thinking?

Technically, and from the point of view of "good manners," it's "none of our business." However, this is the effect of giant, over-the-top media coverage of any story. Danielle Van Damm and Samantha Runnion became "our business," as horrifying as those child abductions and murders were.
Michael Jackson's trial might be "none of our business." There are probably a few hundred similar child molestation trials going on all over the country, and of men roughly the same age as Jackson (the 35 to 45 year old range). We don't know a thing about those people, their lives, the probabilities of their guilt or innocence. The media makes.........then (some say) breaks people. It's part of our culture.
At the same time of the Runnion and Van Damm stories, there was another one somewhere in the midwest. It was a 2-day story, immediately forgotten. Yet that child was abducted and murdered in the same way as the two California girls whom, for whatever reasons, the media glommed onto and ran with. The midwest child's tragedy fell through the cracks.
Ditto for all of the nameless Jennifer Wilbankses all over the country. No one will ever know about them. But, the minute that a central character in a "big story" is in the public eye, he or she becomes part of the public domain, and it is simply human nature to feel compelled to have an opinion on these stories. There is always a public reaction to whatever is reported. Few people remain unmoved or neutral to human interest stories.
I don't know why, but lately Americans have tended to whip themselves into a frenzy about situations that the MSM put forth. It doesn't matter what the truth is; it just matters that it's "a good story".
This could have been the next "Scott Peterson" story. The MSM couldn't pass that up. Anyway, we don't need to know all of the details about either Jennifer or John.
But could you please tell them that the tv appearances and press releases are just adding fuel to the fire? Why don't they just shut up??
How do we know that's her under the 'Albuquerque burqa'?
It could be The Tourist Guy for all we know?
Semper Fi,
"There-Wolves!"
She dumped a previous fiance, on the phone, after they had picked out a ring and were shopping for a house together.
1. You must have some very large brass ones to post here.
2. You must have a fine character, as evidenced by your loyalty. And...
3. If statement 2 above is correct, then a good friend's advice to John would be to run, run fast, and run far away while you still can.

I guess we'll see when all of the facts come out.
Wow! I was trying to conjure up some pity for this woman, but the more that comes out about her - the more I think she should be thrown to the wolves.
It's pretty obvious she ran off with someone to Vegas - you mark my words - soon that side of the story will come out. Whoever "stood her up" or "dumped" her is most likely right this minute trying to figure out how he can best cash into this story. I bet he's shopping his story to National Enquirer & other publications like that as we speak.
Oh what a tangled web we weave......
The "MONKEY TRIAL", the Lindberg kidnapping, the "Daddy and Peaches" ( bet nobody here but I, knows about that scandal. LOL)divorce trial, and on and on.
Oooooooooo...Marty Feldman. May he rest in peace.
JEN'S A 2-TIME MATRI-PHONEY
I seem to attract that type too...
Funny thing is, the media isn't blackmailing all the folks around her. Seems like there are quite a few who are more then willing to talk.
If she isn't fit to go in front of the press and take her beating yet, it'd be best if all the helpers, enablers, and hangers-on would just sit down and STFU. They keep feeding the sharks, and they wonder why they have a shark problem.
It's understandable why they'd welcome the media attention when she was missing. Unfortunately, since her return, they have pretty much wrote the book on how not to handle the media.
My other problem is with the righteous, who insist on haunting these threads, and telling us how uninterested they are, and how bloodthirsty we are.
The National Guard debunking notwithstanding, we're not the media. This a discussion site. Some of us choose to discuss it. I have yet to see a Runaway Bride thread pulled by the moderators. Maybe some of you should just take the hint and move on to threads that better fit your interests.
Respectfully,
Balrog
Kindly alert the usual suspects.
Another new thread.
Any reasonable adult understands that if a bride to be vanishes four days before their lavish wedding, official society and the friends/family will respond appropriately with aggressive efforts to find and save her from potential danger. This is especially true if that person vanishes without her purse and charge cards, and if she leaves behind her sheared off hair.
If this vanished person involuntarily vanished, either as a result of a medical problem impairing her consciousness, mental retardation, or as a result of foul play, there is no question that she incurs no debt or obligation of any kind to anyone involved. In the case however of a conscious planned decision to vanish [she had purchased her bus ticket days before, and was able to navigate her way to Nevada without injury], the question arises as to what debts or obligations she has thereby incurred.
There are two classes of potential debts that a person owes as a result of a planned vanishing act days before a lavish wedding. The first debt is emotional/familial. We as responsible adults realize that our acts impinge on other people who care about us. When we subject those people to days of heartache, wondering what happened and fearing the worse, we have injured them to a considerable extent. However, that debt is a private matter between the person and those she injured. A responsible adult must face those she injured, and strive to make amends. This again is a private matter, and the rest of society must recognize that our intrusion into the matter can be best classified as gossip; of course, the tabloids and entertainment magazines will pursue the issue enthusiastically, but the only interest this aspect of the case should actually have would be as an instructive matter for our children. We can in the privacy of our own homes point out to our children how this thoughtless and heartless behavior affected those people who were no doubt out of their minds with grief for days, and reinforce to our family how important it is to be kind and considerate to those who care for us; the matter should, for us, end there.
The second class of debt that is owed is more complex. An adult must recognize that official society will respond to a family reporting this disappearance, and that the "authorities" will have to respond. Should those authorities NOT respond, and she be found dead afterwards, a large variety of adverse legal/financial/employment consequences would be expected. The police response to the inappropriate disappearance incurred two classes of debt. First of all, it diverted resources away from other items potentially requiring police intervention. This issue in and of itself is not financial, but moral; she incurs an ethical obligation to at the least apologize to her community, and perhaps also to make amends by some sort of community service. However, as in the case of her debt to friends/family, the payment of this debt cannot be coerced or imposed upon her; it is a voluntary moral/ethical act of repayment and perhaps contrition. Her personal response to these obligations is a matter of integrity and character. The second debt to the community is a financial one. The dedication of resources to her search consumed financial resources. Overtime itself is expensive, as is the wear and tear on vehicles, gasoline use, etc. Personnel needed to be fed and perhaps housed. The issue therefore comes down to the fact that taxpayer money was expended in a search for a person who staged a voluntary disappearance days before a lavish wedding. Since any reasonable adult knows that a search will ensue, she is therefore responsible for that financial debt. She has caused DAMAGE to the community as a result of a voluntary irresponsible act; she, and not the community, should be obligated to financially pay for the result of her foolishness.
No, I haven't heard from him, or of him. I wasn't aware of his troubles. His website hasn't been updated since Feb either.
Now you got me worried.
