(George) Galloway does not Respect me, says divorcing wife

THE WIFE OF anti-war candidate George Galloway has dropped a bombshell by claiming the ex-Labour MP doesn't respect her.

Palestinian Amineh Adu-Zayyad, 39, told reporters she was divorcing George Galloway, who is hoping to unseat Labour MP Oona King in the east London seat of Bethnal Green and Bow.

Adu-Zayyad, a scientist, told The Sunday Times that she could no longer tolerate her husbands behaviour and would be contacting her solicitors.

She is quoted as saying: “I should tell you that when he told me his new party was going to be called Respect, I went upstairs and cried. How can he call it this when he doesn’t even treat his own wife with respect?”

brazen

Galloway caused more controversy by storming off an ITN lunchtime news programme after being challenged that he was a supporter of Saddam Hussein. Galloway said it was a "brazen untruth" to suggest he was a supporter of Saddam Hussein.

He accused ITN of "deliberate misrepresentation" of his views on Saddam Hussein and has vowed never to speak to the broadcaster again. He said the programme was a “waste of time”, and the interview a “set-up”.

Zayyad married Galloway five years ago. They had met at a political meeting in Glasgow in 1991. “He was my hero,” she says. “He did such a lot for the Palestinians.”

The paper reported that Zayyad became increasingly suspicious of her husband. She later made contact with a woman who allegedly told her: "She said that George had told her that she was divorcing me in order to marry her. She was 22 and told me that she would never marry a man who was her father’s age.”

stressed

One incident allegedly occurred in February this year when she was in Jordan, and she says that she received a call at her house from a woman who knew Galloway in London. Zayyad said: “She was very stressed, crying.

"She said she wanted to apologise for all the pain that she had caused over the previous two years…She asked me to forgive her. I was so upset, almost broken. I collapsed on the floor."

George Galloway prides himself of being a leader of an anti-war movement, which built the biggest demonstrations in British history and having being right about the Iraq war.

His proudest achievement, as recorded by the Guardian, is that he defeated the Daily Telegraph in court and having helped to build Respect the Unity Coalition.

Galloway was thrown out of the Labour Party in 2003 for his attacks on Tony Blair over the Iraq war. Blink was unable to get a response to the reports from Respect or Galloway today.

What was he right about? The part where the American army would be defeated in battle? The part where the majority of Iraqis would boycott elections? The part where the US would sustain more casualties than in Vietnam?

Like what?

Although Galloway is a moron, I don't think the criteria for proving his support should be them meeting.

If this was the proof of treason then you better lock up Donald Rumsfeld too.

It lowers the level of debate to suggest that merely meeting Saddam made you a supporter. As you suggest there are other reasons, although I personally don't think he liked Sadam, but merely hated Britain and America more.

I didn't suggest that. Merely posted the pic.

Galloway happens to be Yasser Arafat nephew-by-marriage. His wife really is Arafat's niece.

FR has been on top of Galloway: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/900347/posts

"Sliming Israel?"

And my point (to George) is how does this really help the Palestinians. The same thing could be said of their (Palestinians) Arab brothers.
