As I understand it, they have five years maximum within which to call an election. That way if the party in power is doing as well in polls as they think they ever will, they can dissolve the government, hold elections, and start the five year clock ticking again.

Does anyone have a link to these exit polls?
No, and no one will. The only source is Rush's radio show. Now we have people who heard it independently on Rush's show confirming the news here--"I heard that too!" I think it's much ado about nothing.

I am hopeful of low turnout this always favours Conservatives because our base is more loyal my local polling station at 5.45 was empty. Mind you we have 2 other ones within walking distance so maybe you cannot judge by that with so many polling stations.
Headlines on Sky News are about Jackson trial but they will be covering the election from 9.00pm one hour's time.

light turnout? maybe the brits are resigned to their new EU rule over them and that these "local" elections are now meaningless. (/bravenewworld off)

anything yet? Though i loathe exit polls i must admit i am a bit surprised that i am hearing Tory upset for some reason any truth to this? did you vote UKIP this time? any chance of any of them actually grabbing a seat or two (i assume of course that they would ally themselves with Tories if elected)

Wow, only 16 posts to the Monty Python reference (saved me the trouble, as I just recently watched that episode). Must be some sort of record.

I am hopeful of low turnout this always favours Conservatives because our base Interesting, that is the case here in the States. Most "get out the vote" efforts are intended to get the apathetic/stupid vote, which tends to vote liberal.

What's the difference between Labor and the Conservative Party with respect to foreign policy?

That's funny... Yesterday I posted a Monty Python reference and someone complained that the sixteen posts it took was a sign the Python fans were slipping. 8>)

Correct me if I am wrong her Ivan.
British term of government is 5 years but the government can got to the country earlier by choice or if in the case of a hung parliament be forced to go to the country if parliament cast a vote no confidence in them.

I have cousins that live in England -- Walton on the Naze in Essex, England. I was wondering how the voting was going so thanks for reporting on where you voted. I don't believe exit pollings anywhere and as for replying to ambrose, I share your feelings. Hard not to be rude.
If Labour loses many seats, it will be an extraordinary election, but then they turned to Bill Clinton and his cronies for advice so that would be poetic justice!
Keep us posted on how everything is going.
