Did you see the response from the communist WSWS? http://www.wsws.org/articles/2005/may2005/ukel-m06.shtml (PREPARE TO VOMIT!!!)
They even said George Galloway/RESPECT is not left-wing enough!
I'm sure others have said it before me -- and I realize this is late -- but I'd like you to know I appreciate the time you took to post all this information.
Thank you I appreciate your comments
Thanks - drinking coffee all morning and eating a lovely sticky Danish pastrie that our local cake shop (bakery) make.
The Crawley result was after I think 3 re-counts.
Makes sense, those lefties are never satisfied. Being bought and paid for by Saddam isn't enough anymore I guess.
Bad news on David Trimble. He probably was slammed for debating in favor of George W. Bush's reelection in 2004 at the Oxford Union.
Thanks to you Howlin, and thanks to everyone else who stuck around this thread throughout the night. I had a great time staying up to date and wish the British much success for the future of conservatism in the future. It was nice to get some live analysis from our British friends as well to put it all into perspective for us on this side of the Atlantic. Good job to all!
It's the very best of FR, IMO. Thanks for devoting your time.
You are very welcome. You helped a lot of us out.
There is no ruthlessness and relentlessness like that found in Communism. They succeed because they have grasped the idea of incremental Socialism: gaining their ends one bit at a time. We Conservatives must rise to meet them.
Dittos on what Give 'Em Dubya said.
Take heart, in the last year or so, we have seen:
1. The resurrection of Canadian the Canadian Conservative party. (and the suicide of the Liberals)
2. The triumph of the Liberal/National Coalition in Australia.
3. The Re-Election of the Republicans in the US.
4. Step one in the ressurection of the UK Tories.
5. Helen Clark (New Zealand), You're next...
See you all in June, on the Canadian Election Live Thread, to Watch Stephen Harper become Prime Minister.
Bingo. Too often when looking at individual candidates, we on this side have one-issue minds, and sometimes end up forsaking 99% of what we want because we were ticked off about the 1% we didn't get. By my math, that leaves us with not getting what we want 100% of the time.
If we are to turn back the tide on socialism, not only must we rise to the challenge, but we have to start moving things back our way slowly but surely. We cannot eradicate socialism in one fell swoop, just as they know they cannot do away with conservatism all at once. It requires patience, principle, and unity.
I will be there! ;)
5 countries down, many more to go...
"Bad news on David Trimble. He probably was slammed for debating in favor of George W. Bush's reelection in 2004 at the Oxford Union."
Well, if there's one thing I know about Northern Irish politics it's that they play to their own issues. I doubt that that would be an outside issue like that would play between two Unionist parties, but someone with more knowledge may be able to say more accurately.
Come back before then!
Labour held Harlow with a najority under 100.
Final Scores:
Labour 356
Conservative 197
Lib Dems 62
DUP 9
SNP 6
Sinn Fein 5
Plaid Cymru 3
SDLP 3
UUP 1
Independent 2
George Galloway 1
