Not only did he lose it on a 10% swing, but only lost by 0.5%! Jeez that was a tough one to lose.

Can any of our Tory friends explain the Solihull loss. It seems like an anomaly compared to tonight's other results.

It seems to me that Solihull was the big Lib Dem shock upset of the night. Last election, it was true blue.

I don't think they do, unless it has been remodeled since its reconstruction during World War II. I remember reading Churchill's reasoning for not providing seats for all MPs - he said that it would appear empty on most days and for big debates he wanted the atmosphere of a packed hall.

St. Albans was where I grew up. It goes back to the conservatives. Hooray for that, I suppose.

Labour 318 (-32), Conservative 135 (+14), LibDems 46 (+9), Scottish National 6 (+2), Plaid Cymru 3 (-1), Independent 2 (+1) (510/646 reporting, Labour needs 6 more to win)

Yes, it was pretty low on the target list, so that's good too.

Brent East is held by the "lovely" Sarah Teather, and is officially scored as a Lib Dem gain since Labour won it last time before the by-election.

Michael Howard has also just held Folkestone & Hythe.

And this is my 2500th post!

Increase vote by 9% if that is not an endorsement for him I do not know what is especially as his seat was considered a target for the Lib Dems
