United States Attacked
Val Kilmer-in London to star onstage in 'The Postman Always Rings Twice'--has been trashing Americans, saying they are ignorant and illiterate.
Asked how British audiences compare to American ones, Kilmer told the London Sun Newspaper, 'They are smarter. They read books.'
Kilmer then berated Broadway for becoming too 'Vegas like.'

I saw it as I was flipping channels."
I'm laughing. We do feel the need to explain our faux pas, don't we?
I saw her on Geraldo the other night. (I was in my recliner and the remote was on the other side of the room:)
If there is ANYTHING I try to avoid, it is Geraldo and Rita Cosby's breathy voice. They both drive me insane, but in this case, it was difficult to choose which one I can't stand the most - Geraldo or Rosie.
Hey, hey, hey. I resemble that remark. I voted for clintoon twice. Now however, I eat a lot of fish.
Oh PLEASE don't hurt the fish. They have FEELINGS! /sarcasm on
Michael Mann's 'Heat,' another good one with Pacino.
I wasn't attacking you, and I got your point I don't need to buy the book. I am making a statement that many people shop for books on line and therefore don't need to go to a library.
I was aware of that. I also don't consider George Clooney to be Batman either. Just like this new guy won't be superman, that title belongs to Chris reeves

Actually, by the looks of him, Val is now Tom's Stratotanker (in-flight refeuling tanker.
I do both. I'd be at the library now if I could afford the fine I owe for an overdue book :)
"Books? What Books?"
BTW,I have shelves full of books I've read but most of my reading nowadays is done online. Wouldn't surprise me if that's true for a lot of Britons as well.
PETA's stupitidy knows no bounds. I know enough now to see through the dims BS. As for the fishes...oh well, they are delicious rolled in cornmeal and deep fat fried.
I thought he was good in that lion hunting movie, "the Ghosts and the Darkness." He and Douglas make great make believe characters.
You're making me hungry. Sounds yummy!
It is. But it does make my house stink for a while. :-)
It's not a matter of public vs. home schooling, or even of public school funding. It's merely a symptom of a decadent society -- a loss of focus on what's important.
I had t declare a moratorium on book buying. If I buy any more, I'll have to knock out a wall and build more shelves or something.
Sorry, but most Americans under 30 probably couldn't even tell you who the Pilgrims were, much less why they came here. They couldn't tell you what the Articles of Confederation were, much less why they failed. They couldn't tell you who wrote the Federalist Papers, nor what they're about. They may have read the Constitution, but probably couldn't recall any amendments other than the First (and then only according to what the ACLU says).
Most Americans have not read the Bible, and most (me included) have not read the standard classics of literature, and thus have no cultural foundations for even the idiomatic phrases we use on a daily basis -- much less the philosophy behind them.
Americans are woefully ignorant of history -- and are thus doomed to repeat it.
As such, Americans are woefully ignorant about the foundations of freedoms, and about the strengths and weaknesses of the free market (which is not "free-capitalism").
The ugly truth is that our culture is in many respects repeating the excesses of the declining Roman empire, and also declining Greece. It is important to recognize that, so that we may, perhaps, figure out how to reverse the trend.
Johnny Ringo: Age Quod Agis. [Do what you do. - Meaning - "Do what you do best."]
Doc Holliday: Credat Judaeus Apella, Non Ego. The Jew Apella may believe it, not I. [Meaning, "Oh I don't believe drinking is what I do best."]
Johnny Ringo: Eventus Stultorum Magister. [Events are the teachers of fools. - Meaning - "Fools have to learn by experience."]
Doc Holliday: In Pace Requiescat. [Rest In Peace - Meaning - "It's Your Funeral!"]
