DONALD -- Police arrested two teenagers Friday on suspicion of felony murder in the fatal shooting of a husband and wife who reported a burglary earlier in the week at their next-door neighbor's house, police said.
Gale Goode, 48, and Becky Goode, 47, were killed Thursday in their rural ranch home just outside this northern Marion County community of about 600 people.
The suspects -- Jorge Ybarra, 19, and Emanuel Lopez-Delgado, 16, both of Salem -- were among three teenagers found in a car that witnesses saw leaving the street where the Goodes lived.
Sheriff's deputies backed up by Oregon State Police chased the car on Interstate 5 and found that Lopez-Delgado and a 14-year-old boy inside had been shot.
The younger boy was in stable condition at OHSU Hospital in Portland. He hasn't been arrested.
Lopez-Delgado was treated for his wounds at Salem Hospital. His case will be handled in adult court, said Deputy District Attorney Stephanie Tuttle. He is being held at the Marion County jail.
Ybarra also faces a first-degree burglary count and is being held at the Marion County jail.
Sheriff's officials haven't released many details on what happened at the Goode home or how the teens were shot.
Marion County Deputy Kevin Rau said two burglary calls came in to the sheriff's office this week about burglaries at a house next to the Goodes' home. The neighbor first reported an overnight burglary on Wednesday, he said.
Then on Thursday, Becky Goode called 9-1-1 and reported two boys jumping over the neighbor's fence and running away, Rau said. She told dispatchers that her husband went outside with a gun, but by then the two, along with a third man, had escaped.
Felony murder is a Measure 11 crime that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Ybarra and Lopez-Delgado both face arraignment next week.

IMO that decision was one of the worst the SCOTUS has made in a while. Of course, many hateful stupid decisions vie for the list.
If an ***hole is old enough to murder, he's (or she, as the case may be) is old enough to pay the ultimate penalty.
Yes, true. It's unfortunate. The girl he raped and choked almost to death wanted the DP for him, but she was over-ruled by Melissa's family. In my opinion violent rape and child rape should both be DP in their own right.
I believe in a discussion a few years ago Travis suggested that our own CW2 will be more like Chile and less like Yugoslavia.
And 3 or 4 way dirty civil wars are even worse, they are so inherently unstable. Think of Bosnia, with a 3 way civil war between the Catholic Croats, the Orthodox Serbs, and the Muslims.
Today, we're lining up for just such a 3 way dirty civil war, on racial lines. If there is another depression, our cities are going to explode like ethnic Sarajevos.
Politicians who have set their nation on the path to a dirty war through their lust for cheap illegal labor will have a LOT to answer for.
It's too bad the homeowners weren't armed with rifles, some training, and an early warning system. The outcome would have been much different.
Re: the side-by coach gun, I was reading in the Guns & Ammo about defensive scatter guns. The writer made the great point that they are short and handy and with exposed hammers even a novice can tell if they are cocked. They are easy to check for rounds, no magazine just break it open.
While he favored low recoil tactical 00 buck, I like the idea of maybe #6 shot. At room sweeping distance it should still be a tight pattern but I dont think it will blow trough sheet rock as easily to harm friendlies in adjacent rooms. What do you say?
FReegards
I keep 00Buck, Federal Tactical, and a solid copper one ounce sabot slug loaded. 00Buck for a quick snap shot and if the bad guy gets a dead cat bounce with his "kevlar" hide I break his friggin ribs at a minimum with the slug.
I have no children in my home anymore. I live far enough from neighbors that background for my shots doesn't become a consideration in such an event. As to the "exposed" hammers I don't like em or have the EAA BHII guns that have em. They snag and break. I don't shoot SASS so hollywood ain't in my defense plan. I'm not sure as I don't have one of the modern ones but I believe one can pull back a hammer on one and if it slips before fully cocked it'll fire....?? I'm not sure if it has a half cock feature so I'll leave that tidbit concern for someone that has the exposed hammer flavor.
One other detail....I plan on shooting through the sheetrock when I am certain that an uninvited guest is on the other side of that wall. I'll remodel my home as fast as I can reload when I know the door has been kicked in for whatever purpose. With my lady behind me I will recon by fire with confidence until the sheriff arrives to pick up the bodies.
My doggies and custom alarms and physical security features should never allow such to occur. So if it does then something is very very very wrong and it's time to get medevil quick.
Just my opinion of course........:o)
BTW did ya'll get any of this snow ? We got 3 inches this AM....
It's been between drizzle and snow for 5 days. Maybe an inch but it didn't stay long with the drizzle.
Should start to get nice now just in time to go look for gobblers.
I was out looking for those Saturday night and ran out of dollar bills !......:o)
LOL!
