PCs seized in missing Ga. bride-to-be case

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Investigators have taken several computers from the home of a missing bride-to-be to examine e-mails for clues to her disappearance, police said Friday.

Jennifer Wilbanks, 32, was reported missing Tuesday night by her fiance, John Mason, who said she did not come home after her nightly jog in this Atlanta suburb. He said she left with only her radio and the clothes she had on.

Police found Wilbanks' keys, cash, credit cards and identification in the home she shared with Mason.

Chief Randy Belcher said investigators took three computers from the home and were reviewing e-mails.

Officers who searched Wilbanks' neighborhood were also testing several sweat shirts for any connection to the case, though the police chief seemed doubtful. "We've picked up pieces of clothing all over," he said. Authorities said they considered the case a criminal investigation, but police gave mixed signals about whether they believe Wilbanks may have gotten cold feet.

Maj. Don Woodruff said authorities did not believe Wilbanks was a runaway bride. But under questioning from reporters, Belcher later said: "It's a very real possibility she did get cold feet. I mean, how many husbands have gone out for a pack of cigarettes and not come back?"

Belcher said Mason had told authorities he would decide Friday whether to take a polygraph test.

if you were running off with someone else would you take the engagement ring? or if you were going to hurl yourself into an abandoned construction pit? this is what makes me think that she had something to do with it.

If she were simply running (not "running off") she might very well have taken off her rings because the hands swell. Mine do. I also take off my rings when cooking messy meals, clearing brush, and doing something with rubber gloves (like painting), because my diamond sometimes pokes through. Because my darling husband bought me some serious bling-bling and my rock is larger than average, I also don't take my engagment ring when traveling to Third World countries or going places where my sparkly rock might attract undue attention (oops, does that make me a racist?). So the fact that she left her ring behind when going out for a jog at night shouldn't be the sole indicator in determining that she may have run away.

So, just to get this straight in my head, are you saying that "emasculated men" care not WHO their victims are? And that the FemiNazis have hurt society in general, and not just female victims?

What do you make of the treatment of Richard Jewell during the Olympic's bombing investigation?

That was stupidity on the part of the feds, NBC, CNN and others in the media. Why do you ask? That has nothing to do with police homicide detectives and framing innocent people.

Note that in the end Jewell was not convicted of anything in the end.

Okay, a little off topic, but since you mentioned it.... I live about 20 minutes from Duluth (that would be when there is NO traffic and I hit all of the green lights). I saw 2 HUGE mountain lions or cougars or whatever one day on 400 (express way from North Ga to Atlanta).

All I know is they were too big to be dogs or cats. My husband laughed at me. That is until he read in the paper others closer to North Fulton (next county south) reported seeing them also.

The big cats are still here.

Jennifer's dad, Harris Wilbanks, on Greta. He said John and Jennifer usually ran at gym unless they got busy.

Greta said there was a small bank withdrawl on her account at 8:05 that night.

Mr. Wilbanks has known John @ 1 l/2 years; fell in love with him as soon as he met him. Says John willing to do another lie detector test, but said John getting advice on it from everywhere.

John's dad on next...

Per Claude Mason, John kept honeymoon plans secret; no one knew where they were going.

Greta speaking to one of the 14 bridesmaids next, and goes on walk of area with LE. She is set up right outside John and Jennifer's home. Greta described area as upscale, but very dark, like not alot of street lights around.

5 of Jennifer's cousins on. Last any of them heard from her was Tuesday 2:10pm, via phone message. All say John is a great guy; one of the gal's husbands was in the same fraternity with John and liked him. Jennifer very much in love with him.

isthisnickcool said:"That was stupidity on the part of the feds,..."

Although you are correct, it was stupidity for the feds to pursue Jewell to the exclusion of others, it was not the explanation for their actions. The authorities are convinced that a suspect is guilty and they go the extra mile to develop "evidence" of their guilt. If a jury convicts, then the deed is done.

The various FBI experts who have testified against defendants with false information did not do so out of stupidity. They did it out of arrogance. Only when contrary evidence revealed their falsehoods was the practice challenged.

Well that's news, isn't it?

I watched Greta too, though I didn't hear who made the ATM withdrawal or who's account was charged.

Adding ... His father was first called at 12:30am and advised his son to call the police.

Mason called his own father at 12:30 am but didn't call Jennifers father until 2:00 am.

I am with you. The fiance's asymmetrical face got to me,,he looks like he had early brain damage or damage during birth. My guess is a hot temper. And she, with the wide eyes, looks like she could be an emotional girl. Wedding had 600 guests and 14 bridesmaids,,

I guess I am jumping to conclusions, but my money is on the fiance.

Yeah. He's got that one eyebrow that seems to be raised up higher than the other. That is a common side effect of some anti-depressant meds.

I don't think that is an antidepressant side effect.

Asymmetrical faces with one eye sort of out of kilter and the face mishapen are usually signs of either neonatal trauma or some developemental problem in utero. His demeanor was odd to me.

Pretty soon we will know alot about him if the press is on it. He works in a family business, an office manager. At age 32. Maybe that will open up some info that will be a clue.
