So, will they put my money in private account or not?

HA! Of course they will. Right after they disband the Dept of Education as promised in 1980 and start cutting the budget....

Bush started slow tonight but he is hitting his stride. He always seems to when it comes to money issues. There are some issues where he shows little passion but when he starts talking about money, his pulse seems to quicken.

"Have you all noticed the delighted looks on the other reporters' faces when these questions are being asked? "

These people are NOT reporters. They are activists with a seriesly hugh "megaphone".

Bush: Congress has personal accounts. What's good for them ought to be good for other people. (paraphrased) AMEN

What would happen if the government began putting all social security "contributions" into a retirement/disability insurance plan now? IOW, rather than attempting to keep funding a PONSI scheme, "supplement" what's paid out via social security until such a time that each person's retirement/disability insurance plan is funded. (That may never happen for somebody born in 1951, but I'd think that those entering the work force today would reach that fully funded point. I know that if each person put the amount that goes into social security into an ongoing personal retirement fund, that they'd have a far higher retirement income than they get on social security.)

If all that's done is allowing personal savings accounts, you know that too many politicians will vote to reduce the amount someone receives via social security by the amount they "benefit" from the personal savings account. (That already happens if somebody gets PERS and social security. So, those who had the initiative to save will be considered rich and not deserving of the full share.)

Reporters ask questions as if they were 10 year olds, guess it reflects what the think of the American viewer. They no longer serve any purpose. They are inane, insipid and totally irrelevant.

I was just thinking about them; do you think they spend the afternoon trying to twist a question to do the most damage? Why can't they just ask a question straight out without all the "moralizing" they include in their question?

"VERY tie obsessed"

a couple of jobs ago, I rated the ties the guys wore each day, and each day I declared a "winner." It was fun and they DID compete.

I thought David Gregory's given nick from Bush was "stretch", but, when he (Bush) called on some other press hack, the President called him "stretch".

Perhaps Gregory is now known as "idiot".

These are the people, who as you speak to them, never hear a word you are saying, because they are ONLY thinking about what they are going to say, and how they are going to say it.

I appreciate you pointing that out, snugs, we Americans have been spoiled in a lot of ways....so we tend to gripe a lot when we don't get our way... like you have seen on these threads quite a bit, also, I am afraid.
