OCALA, Fla. A convicted sex offender apparently committed suicide in despair over signs posted in his neighborhood calling him a child rapist.
Clovis Claxton (search), 38, was found dead by his father with one of the signs beside his body. It was less than a day after his release from a psychiatric hospital.
His mother blames Marion County (search) Commissioner Randy Harris (search) for her son's death. Harris proposed putting up flyers in the neighborhoods of sex offenders to alert neighbors.

Should have kept him in the "nervous hospital".
I don't see in the articles where it states he's an illegal. Am I missing that, somewhere?
Yay! Dead molester! One down, a million to go.
One thing I've learned well on FR...get the whole story.
In this case, I'm afraid the neighborhood was justified in their caution. As a head injury rehab nurse, I am aware that sometimes people with such injuries lack normal self-control...which might be what the deal was with this guy. Unfortunately that is of little comfort to his victim and would not decrease my caution around him, had he moved into my neighborhood.
Good man.
He took one for the team.
True, but the level of gloating and glee I find a bit troubling. Death is sometimes a necessity, but no one should take joy in it.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Maybe the man realized that he wasn't cured, and that he'd likely molest again, and didn't want that to happen.
The problem is that this process will soon be used for other offenses. It isn't a good thing.
How do you know that the expressions of "love" are being posted by "Christians?"
Sadly, most citizens would agree with you... which means the you can toss several parts of the Bill of Rights "for the children"... and not just for those convicted, since Equal Protection still applies. No more warrants required to go through your home and access your laptop, because, as you just noted, the right to privacy is not as important as the safety of the children.
How do you know his death isn't God's will? I respect you as a reverend and that's your job but child rapists/molesters 98% never get better. Their fail rate is sky high. I just see his suicide as reaping what you sow. If you don't get why some people are joyous over his death, it's because molesters don't get the punishment they deserve most of the time.
That's scary. I was shocked to find the 36, but 250......
for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
The rate of inaccuracy for psychiatrists is comparable to the rate of recidivism for molesters. By your logic, they should not be considered worthy of citation.
By the way, I think that recidivism rate is about 88%. You are expressly advocating that those who are in the 12% be given no chance, even though they have not (and will not, with the benfit of 20-20 hindsight) re-offended. That's punishment without a crime... prior restraint... and a WIDE open door for abuse by officials, all of which the Founders desperately feared and loathed.
Letting any of them out of confinement is a crime against the community.
Automatic life sentences no matter the circumstances? Great precedent to set.
Making the decent members of the community search databases, find where these people live, is rediculous.
Maybe a yellow star on their coat and a number tattooed on their wrist would be better?
Lock them away permanently. If they volunteer, execute them
It's spelled P - R - E - C - E - D - E - N - T.
You're screaming for one of the worst possible. Please think before advocating from pure emotion.
Blueblogger clarified his post. He wasn't referring to this guy as an illegal alien as I read it, but as illegal in the sense that what this criminal did was an illegal criminal offence, for which the man sentenced himself to death and carried out his own execution as no Court would have done.
Good. Let them move next door to you.
Okay, I get it now, thanks.
