WE HAVE A POPE!!!
Germans love to speak English. I think because our langauges are very similar. Every time I have been to german speaking countries they always speak to me in Englihs even though I want to try to improve my (poor) German skills. heh.
Complete opposite of dirty France.
Young Catholics loved Pope John Paul II. They'll love our new holy father too!
Dear sinkspur,
"I do hope and pray that, as Pope, Ratzinger is not a divisive figure."
I certainly wouldn't want to see the pope be unnecessarily divisive.
But I don't think that would apply to efforts to further clean up the seminaries, excommunicating heretics masquerading as Catholic theologians, banning pseudo-Catholic politicians from the Holy Eucharist, and disciplining wayward bishops.
For a start.

But I do not believe this new pope is of the Benedictine order...but he did choose Benedictine...which was the 'favorite' name as of this morning...who knew???
..............................
Hence, The Pope is glorifying the olives....
Thanks for the ping, I got the news from you. All the best from us here in America!
It did kill him. This was a man who had exceptional stamia and good health. It took it's toll on him.
That would be Veal Alla Milanese , a side of cannalone with a bottle of lambrusco !
My new Pope celebration dinner this evening....mangari e' tutto
Guess they didn't remove the coat of arms of JPII from the balcony during the interregnum.
So I guess you're telling me you lose at the lottery, the stock market and the race track? LOL .. whatever the inspiration, your early choice is impressive and I do say it had to be inspired. Keep up the good work, and don't doubt your gift.
That picture is one of the motst truly encouraging signs. Our seminarians will follow the lead of the "Panzer Pope". And I couldn't be happier. (no sarcasm!)
Is there anything preventing the new pope from blessing his native Bavaria's Oktoberfest?
Yes, amdgmary. A true giant among men. A Man for All Ages.
""I think this homily shows he realizes he's not going to be elected. He's too much of a polarizing figure," McBrien said. "If he were elected, thousands upon thousands of Catholics in Europe and the United States would roll their eyes and retreat to the margins of the church.""
Can't you just about here them yelling already!!! RETREAT!! RETREAT!!!
When you compare a titan to a pygmy there is no comparison. To compare Spong and Robinson with any Christian is demeaning to all Christians.
Haha! Time got the Latin wrong! It's supposed to be "habemus papam," not papum. Guess it shouldn't surprise me, since Time is full of pap.
So I guess you're telling me you lose at the lottery, the stock market and the race track? LOL .. whatever the inspiration, your early choice is impressive and I do say it had to be inspired. Keep up the good work, and don't doubt your gifts.
Hi TexasGunLover
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate the sentiment and well wishes on my behalf.
Best Regards
Sergio
BTW, your screen name, TexasGunLover...is there any other kind of "real" Texan! ;)
I believe that is Benedict XVIs coat of arms as George Weigel described on NBC today. Very similar to John Paul IIs.
Prayers for His Holiness Benedict XVI.
