It seems to me that the election of Cdl. Ratzinger has pretty much disproven the alleged St. Malachy predictions. It's difficult to see how his election fits with the motto, "The Glory of the Olives".

He needed 77 so if he won by 4 votes that must mean he got 81 of 115.

Your comment on the new Pope reviving the Church Germany and Western Europe was my though exactly. As I told my father earlier today, a healthy Church cannot allow rot and atrophy to creep into its own back yard. Picking a Pope from a Western European country that is particularly deep in nihilism and all the bad traits of Western Culture is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit, just as was the selection of a little-known polish cardinal on the eve of the collapse of the Eastern Bloc.

Congratulations to my Catholic FRiends on the election of Pope Benedict. He promises to be as significant as his predecessor. Just one request--could someone please teach the red hats some economics.

I've known of Malachy's prophecy since 5th Grade, which was back in 1972?. We had a public school teacher who not only taught us how aggressive the Muslims were but also mentioned this one day. I've followed it every since. Don't you think Jean-Marie Lustiger would have better fulfilled the prophecy (a Jew from the Olive Mount)? And what do you think about his taking of the name Benedictine? Do you think the Gloria Olivae is why he took that name? I can't think of another reason.
If the prophecies are true we are, what, 2 popes away from The End? ;)
Curious as to your thoughts.

Jesus loves you, this I know
For the Bible tells me so.
Little (and big) ones to Him belong.
They are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves you.
Yes, Jesus loves you.
Yes, Jesus loves you.
The Bible tells me so.
I love you too, Laz. :o)

"Listen carefully, my son, to the Master's instructions, and attend to them with the ear of your heart. This is advice from a father who loves you; welcome it, and faithfully put it into practice. The labor of obedience will bring you back to him from whom you had drifted through the sloth of disobedience. This message of mine is for all, and armed with the strong and noble weapons of obedience to do battle for the true king, Christ the Lord."(the Rule of St. Benedict, Prologue, verses 1-3)
There is always significance in the Pope's choice of a name.
Rest assured that Pope Benedict XVI will stand firm against Islam.
Likewise I gave my reasons in support of this a few days ago and explained why we needed a "war pope".
Why the world now needs a "war pope"

I am a religious third order Benedictine woman. My celebacy is quite voluntary and a beautiful choice. And... just so some out there may think the choice of celebacy is for the unattractive and disturbed.. I have been married and did well in beauty contests.

Slight problem - Ratzinger isn't Jewish.

How do you integrate the doctrine of global universalism (JPll)... with the doctrine of traditional RC theology -that only RCC is true religion (Ratzinger) ?? You mean how do you integrate the Catechism Ratzinger wrote and John Paul the Great promulgated with the Catechism Ratzinger wrote and John Paul the Great promulgated?

With the priest shortage, the grotesque sex abuse scandals, and the crisis in Europe with the declining Christian population from the culture of death and new threats from Islam, this selection provides a rallying point for the cause of Christian civilization in the West. Without that, the world is really lost. It makes sense on that basis. It WILL increase vocations to the priesthood. And many sill study in Rome. It strengthens Rome, the Vatican, the papacy,
and Europe.

And the coolest thing about this is that the liberal MSM is obviously disappointed, just like Election Day 2004, 1988, 1984, 1980...

Lazamataz, what is it with you. Are you just a sicko, I don't think you are a conservative at all, I'm not sure why they don't just ban you.
