WE HAVE A POPE!!!
They meant it to be white smoke, but unfortunately, they were burning an old tire.
Best reply yet. If everyone reacted that way, not only would the world be a better place, but . . . It would really pi** them off!
Probably a lot, but that has no bearing on the transcendent. Personal weakens or hypocrisy is just that, what wold be worse would be to NOT recognize truth despite our inability or unwillingness to conform our self to that truth and not remind others that sin, is sin.
I know. I sure don't. I don't understand why people get worked up about the DUmmies anyway.
Then just go away--- you're going to attract lightening.
Wow. Are all those people in St. Peters Square actually Catholic?
YES!!!
As a non catholic I find this... historic is perhaps the best word.
I find it historic in the sense the MSM is being consumed with the topic of Christianity world wide. Like the Passion of the Christ, only of a 1000 times more impact.
As a Christian I'm loving it. The MSM is not a friend to Christians, so having a worldwide broadcast concerning Christianity I see as a gift.
Ratzinger feels as though he is the right choice. Given the decline of Christianity in "Old Europe" I would say it timely a Pope comes from Germany.
Thanks for that book tip. Here's the one I spoke of, on Amazon:

We needed a Pope who was going to stand firm against liberalism. We got it. It's my hope that he will also stand firm against Islam.

"All Glory Be to God on High"
by Nikolaus Decius, 1490?-1541
Translated by Catherine Winkworth, 1829-1878
1. All glory be to God on high,
Who hath our race befriended!
To us no harm shall now come nigh,
The strife at last is ended;
God showeth His good will to men,
And peace shall reign on earth again;
Oh, thank Him for His goodness!
2. We praise, we worship Thee, we trust,
And give Thee thanks forever,
O Father, that Thy rule is just
And wise and changes never.
Thy boundless power o'er all things reigns,
'Tis done whate'er Thy will ordains:
Well for us that Thou rulest!
3. O Jesus Christ, Thou only Son
Of God, Thy heavenly Father,
Who didst for all our sins atone
And Thy lost sheep dost gather:
Thou Lamb of God, to Thee on high,
From out our depths, we sinners cry,
Have mercy on us, Jesus!
4. O Holy Ghost, Thou precious Gift,
Thou Comforter unfailing,
O'er Satan's snares our souls uplift
And let Thy power availing
Avert our woes and calm our dread.
For us the Savior's blood was shed;
We trust in Thee to save us.

Tune: "Allein Gott in der Hoeh'"
Allein Gott in der Höh' sei Ehr'
Nikolaus Decius, 1525
Allein Gott in der Höh' sei Ehr'
Und Dank für seine Gnade,
Darum daß nun und nimmermehr
Uns rühren kann kein Schade.
Ein Wohlgefall'n Gott an uns hat,
Nun ist groß' Fried' ohn' Unterlaß,
All' Fehd' hat nun ein Ende.
2. Wir loben, preis'n, anbeten dich
Für deine Ehr'; wir danken,
Daß du, Gott Vater ewiglich
Regierst ohn' alles Wanken.
Ganz ungemeß'n ist deine Macht,
Fort g'schieht, was dein Will' hat bedacht;
Wohl uns des feinen Herren!
3. O Jesu Christ, Sohn eingebor'n
Deines himmlischen Vaters,
Versöhner der'r, die war'n verlor'n,
Du Stiller unsers Haders,
Lamm Gottes, heil'ger Herr und Gott,
Nimm an die Bitt' von unsrer Not,
Erbarm' dich unser aller!
4. O Heil'ger Geist, du höchstes Gut,
Du allerheilsamst' Tröster,
Vor's Teufels G'walt fortan behüt',
Die Jesus Christ erlöset
Durch große Mart'r und bittern Tod,
Abwend all unsern Jamm'r und Not!
Darauf wir uns verlaßen.
And yet another Troll heard from.
Hitler Youth? Mein Gott!
He is to me too!
Why would the Pope need to reach out to the Benedictines?? Just curious :D
I can just imagine! The Amchurch crowd in my diocese must be apopaleptic by now! Not to mention a few of the militant 'progressive' amchurch style catholics right here on FR. I can't wait for the next parish council meeting on thurs! I will be having a wee bit of fun.
