This was NOT a "home-invasion" but a "push-in" which was a very common crime in most of NYC pre-Giuliani (and I bet are on the rise with his liberal successor). The term "home-invasion" was used when thugs invaded an occupied home - by any means required - and took control of the home and its occupant(s) for long enough - often an extended period - to complete their crimes.
**** HEADS UP ON POST 60 ****
I suspect you are a troll.
Sad what happens when the real world runs smack dab into the "happy little world of fantasy".
Granny was a pip, she was!
Fear and good sense tell one to shut the hell up and not say anything to challenge someone who is threatening deadly force (unless you are in a position do dea with that force, ie the police, etc). This idiot did not have that good sense.
I hope to god you aren't a real teacher. Do you teach your students to hate the things they disagree with?
No, I teach them to think before they speak. And God should be capitalized.
Do you teach them never to check the source, or establish the context?
I'm anal about it, actually, thanks to FR.
Do people here want to recreate the world in their own image? Isn't that what liberals are always accused of, and condemned for? What happened to relishing the differences that make the world the world?
What is there to relish about someone who doesn't have the sense that the Almighty gave a field mouse? When cornered, defenseless, and unable to run, sit still and wait for an opportunity to get away until the dnger passes).
When the last person whose politics you dislike is dead, take a good lood round at what and who remain.
If every liberal is stupid enough to dare a murderer to murder them, then I won't be surprised when they are killed. Gandhi noted the immense body-count that would ensue if India had to confront Hitler using his principles of non-violent resistance. Why are you surprised by something so obvious, and historically-noted by the one of the greatest peace-promoters of all-time?
I agree, looks like "wowser" and "Buttsex4" both just joined. Wow, two trolls on one post.
What's going on? Is DU down this morning?
LOL. They must be in a time zone where grade school hasn't started yet, have some time to play on daddy's PC.
This incidenent may be this particular Liberal's epiphany.
No, it's not the victim's fault. But this is the second time in just a few weeks that some lefty peacenik in NYC has gotten shot after making an idiotic comment to someone who was mugging them. The other one got killed, and his/her surviving significant other (I can't recall which of them got killed) announced to the press that the murder occurred "because it's so easy for kids to get guns in this society". Pardon us New Yorkers for saying these people are idiots, but if they keep blaming everybody except the criminal, and trying to disarm the non-criminals, then they ARE idiots.
To repeat:
His shooting was fitting justice for one who would disarm his country before its foreign enemies and disarm law abiding Americans in their own country.
This peace-quack got a taste of his own snake-oil and I feel more concern for those to who he sold his deadly poison.
AND SINCE FR IS DEDICATED TO FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION:
Old Chinese Story: A man studied dragon slaying for seven years and when he was through, he found there was no one who needed any dragons slain. So he taught dragon slaying.
Obviously he wants on the academic gravy train. No heavy lifting, you're out of the hot sun and rain, no one shoots at you (oops, scratch that one) and the dough's not bad.
My father-in-law (who was a preacher's kid) once had an employee whom he had to let go. He counseled the young man, "You ought to be a preacher, you get Saturday off to prepare for Sunday, you get Monday off to rest up and no one cares what you do the rest of the week." The kid took his advice and told my f-i-l it was the advice he ever had.
A tenured gig is even better.
Please - allow me.
After shooting the man the thug said," I was just hanging around until I remembered something I forgot to do. Thanks for reminding me."
