NEW YORK - Time magazine has named what it calls the "five best big city mayors" in America.
The winners are: New York's Michael Bloomberg, Atlanta's Shirley Franklin, Baltimore's Martin O'Malley, Chicago's Richard Daley and Denver's John Hickenlooper.
Gavin Newsom of San Francisco gets an honorable mention.
Time also designated three mayors as the nation's worst: Detroit's Kwame Kilpatrick, San Diego's Dick Murphy and Philadelphia's John Street.
Neither list was ranked, and the mayors were listed in alphabetical order.
The lists appear in the issue of the magazine that hits newsstands tomorrow.
Bloomberg and Murphy are Republicans. All the others are Democrats.

Fair and Balanced criteria was used to judge these Mayors, I'm sure. *Rolleyes*

Newsom is not fit to be head nose picker at a booger convention.
And the only reason Lee Brown (Houston) didn't make the worst list is because he was term limited out two years ago.

I will give Richard M. Daley a certain amount of credit. He does manage to make much of the city's infrastructure kinda sorta work. To be sure, there's a lot of corruption, but unfortunately honest dealings have been undermined for so long that removing all the corruption at this point would cause the city to fall apart.
I don't know what the solution is.

Other than Chicago there isn't a city on either of those lists that I would even think about living in.

I see Detroit's own "hip hop" mayor made the list . . .

Time will never rank mayors from heartland cities.
All of the above with the possible exception of San Diego are rat hellholes.

[[Bloomberg and Murphy are Republicans. All the others are Democrats.]]
Bloomberg is a liberal democrat who switched to the Republican party just so he could win the mayoral election. He is a scumbag and a traitor and has flat out refused to enforce the immigration laws of this country. No wonder his city is now 50% foregin born and full of MS-13 gang members, and islamic terrorists. They know that they can operate with impunity in NYC and their legal legal residency status will never be questions. Liberals would destroy this whole country if we let them.

O'Malley, of Baltimore has said that he fears George Bush more than he fears al Qaeda.

Why is Murphy thought so bad?
The only one I'm real familiar with is Street & they made the right call there.

12 years of Vera Klutz-now we have another idiot in the mayors office. PortaPotter will be worse than Klutz-if that is possible.

I once found myself in the uncomfortable spot of having to defend Street when discussing the sky rocketing housing values in the city... "See, he's so busy with the HUD and School shakedowns that he hasn't gotten around to scamming and thus screwing up the legitimate housing market. A more competent mayor would be able to execute all three at once, but Street has the intelligence of Australopithecus, so the city is improving in some ways."

turning Philly into a hell hole?
What was Philly like before Street was elected? It hasn't been the Garden of Eden since, I don't know, 1952.
