One month after the April 19, 1995, Oklahoma City bombing (search) that killed 168 people, authorities demolished what was left of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building (search). Officials said the implosion was a necessary part of the psychological recovery for the citizens of Oklahoma City. But critics question the FBIs tactics and argue the building came down too soon and the implosion is one piece of a government cover-up. Survivor VZ Lawton remembers the events after the attack. I was in my office at my desk signing papers and all of a sudden the building began to shake, said Lawton. The lights went out, debris started falling and then something hit me on the head and knocked me out before the truck bomb ever went off. Lawton and some others believe Timothy McVeigh (search) who was convicted of federal conspiracy and murder charges in the bombing and executed in 2001 and convicted conspirator Terry Nichols (search) weren't alone in plotting the attack. During the investigation the FBI circulated sketches of John Does and in response received thousands of conflicting tips from across the country.

Thank you. It is a must read. I'm glad there is a book being published about the bombing. I must purchase it the next time I'm in the States.
Thank you for sharing that photo.
At the same time, those photos are so depressing. Thank you, Bill Clinton, for the memories.
Frankly, I'm wondering whether they ever left.
Haunting.
don't the islamist dudes shave off all thier hair in prep before a suicide attack?
That doesn't even make sense.
Ths is a classic conspiracy whacko comment. No matter the tragedy, there is ALWAYS initial confusion. ALWAYS. And, whackos will ALWAYS latch on to the initial confusion and accompanying poor reporting as proof of a conspiracy.
When the first plane hit, the hijackings were known to be under way. There was enough time for "initial confusion" to have passed.
And funny how ordinary natural disasters can get coverage without much "initial confusion."
We have a media that dances to the government's tune, and we are much more intensively propagandized by our government than most people think is possible.
There is ALWAYS confusion. Period.
Feel free to make everything fit into your conspiracy, if you like.
When was the last time we had a war and the government DIDN'T cover up successful infiltration and sabotage? It would be a "conspiracy" if the government somehow decided to give that up.
There may very well be a cover up here, but in some folks eyes, everything is a cover up.
Anyway...were we at war during the OKC bombing?
Good question. Were we at war during WTC '95? That one came THIS CLOSE to toppling a WTC tower. Would have been bigger than 9/11.
I date it all the way back to Arrow Air. That was Al Quaida's first big hit.
