Treasury Designates Charity Funneling Money to Palestinian Islamic Jihad
--Action Marks 400th Designation of a Terrorist or Financier—

The U.S. Department of the Treasury today designated the Elehssan Society, including all its branches, as a charitable front for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). A deadly Palestinian terrorist group, PIJ has been named a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) by the U.S. Government and is also named on the European Union's list of terrorist entities.

"Elehssan masquerades as a charity, while actually helping to finance Palestinian Islamic Jihad's acts of terror against the Israeli people and other innocents," said Stuart Levey, the Treasury's Under Secretary for the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI). "We will not hesitate to act against those who enable murderers, regardless of how they disguise themselves."

Today's action marks the 400th individual or entity designated under Executive Order 13224, President Bush's Order aimed at freezing the assets of terrorists and their support networks.

On February 25, 2005, PIJ, claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack in Tel-Aviv that killed five and wounded over 50. Evidence available to the U.S. Government corroborates that PIJ, based in Damascus, Syria, was implicated in planning the attacks. According to a significant volume of information available to the U.S. Government, PIJ leadership in Damascus, Syria controls all PIJ officials, activists and terrorists in the West Bank and Gaza.

According to a fifty-three count indictment filed in February 2003 in the United States District Court in the Middle District of Florida, beginning in the early 1990s, the Elehssan Society served as the fund-raising arm of PIJ in Gaza and the West Bank, soliciting, collecting and distributing donations. According to the indictment, PIJ and Elehssan's objectives include murder, extortion, money laundering, fraud and misuse of visas.

Elehssan also utilized Internet websites for the solicitation of funds, according to the Federal indictment. These sites featured PIJ claims of responsibility for terrorist acts and material on PIJ leaders, such as PIJ's Secretary General, Ramadan Abdullah Shallah. Shallah has been named a Specially Designated Terrorist by the U.S. Government.

According to a signed declaration filed in open court in the U.S. in October 2000, PIJ runs or supports a number of organizations, including Elehssan. As of 2004, information available to the U.S. indicates that Elehssan Society's leader played a primary role in PIJ's financial council. Notably, he coordinated with PIJ Secretary General Ramadan Shallah on organizational and operational issues.

As of late 2003, Elehssan cooperated with PIJ to distribute funds to the families of PIJ prisoners and deceased members, and was informed by PIJ when entitlements were sent. Information available to the U.S. shows that Elehssan maintains lists of PIJ-associated families who are to receive compensation – including the families of PIJ suicide bombers. For example, details of early 2004 financial transfers from PIJ entities outside the Palestinian territories to PIJ members and supporters in the West Bank included a payment of $900 to benefit the family of a deceased PIJ operative, who died conducting a suicide attack.

Information available to the U.S. shows that to move money, select PIJ members serve as links between PIJ headquarters and members in the Palestinian territories. PIJ funds were deposited directly into PIJ members' accounts and into PIJ "charitable" accounts, including the Elehssan Society. PIJ funds for the Elehssan Society primarily came from outside the West Bank and Gaza.

In late 2001 and early 2002, the Palestinian Authority closed several offices belonging to PIJ in the Palestinian territories, including Elehssan. Despite this apparent set back, in 2003 PIJ initiated efforts to expand Elehssan's activities, notably making plans to open a branch in Ramallah.

As of 2005, information available to the U.S. Government shows that PIJ continues to fund activities via the Elehssan Society. Notably, in 2005 PIJ funds were provided to Elehssan Bethlehem and in 2004, information shows that PIJ provided funds to Elehssan in Gaza and Lebanon. In mid-2002, Elehssan received hundreds of thousands of dollars from abroad that were deposited into accounts in the West Bank.

In addition to its use as a financial conduit, Elehssan is used by PIJ to recruit for its operational cadre. In early 2003, Elehssan planned to open a youth center to support PIJ activity and conduct PIJ-related recruitment and training. Information available to the U.S. indicates that the absence of a PIJ youth center in that location was regarded as one reason behind a lack of PIJ activity in the area.

Also to support its recruitment efforts, in mid-2002, PIJ provided money to a run a summer camp project in the West Bank. In 2003, a PIJ leader, also identified as a senior official for Elehssan, reportedly said that PIJ summer camps emphasize, "culture, Islam and fun, with a marginal political dimension." Yet according to another source, the aim of at least one PIJ-run summer camp is reportedly the recruitment of suicide bombers.

Today's designation includes the entire Elehssan organization including its headquarters, believed to be in Gaza City, and all its branch offices including in Janin, Ramallah, Tulkaram, Hebron and Bethlehem, as well as in Lebanon.

Elehssan was designated today pursuant to Executive Order 13224 chiefly pursuant to paragraphs (d)(i) and (d)(ii) based on a determination that the organization assists in, sponsors or provides financial, material, or technological support for, or financial or other services to or in support of, or is otherwise associated with, persons listed as subject to E.O. 13224.

Blocking actions are critical to combating the financing of terrorism. When an action is put into place, any assets existing in the formal financial system at the time of the order are to be frozen. Blocking actions serve additional functions as well, acting as a deterrent for non-designated parties who might otherwise be willing to finance terrorist activity; exposing terrorist financing "money trails" that may generate leads to previously unknown terrorist cells and financiers; disrupting terrorist financing networks by encouraging designated terrorist supporters to disassociate themselves from terrorist activity and renounce their affiliation with terrorist groups; terminating terrorist cash flows by shutting down the pipelines used to move terrorist-related assets; forcing terrorists to use alternative and more costly and higher-risk means of financing their activities.

Really, thanks! I wonder if baking soda would make people call the cops though, unless there was a lot because that is more of a deoderizer(SP) and nobody would get sick before a crew came in. Doesn't CNN think that we would want an update with people telling us everything was okay? Many children involved. I'm glad you found Something, how about back to fn michael jackson? I bet one day in court for him with the prosecution was enough to hang him instantly.

Can't really figure out the grenades, someone posted 'a warning' I may agree, from the way it sounds, it was more in the ground right. You can't really drop a few in a plant w/o someone noticing. just damn if some of us paranoid ones are right in thinking that they could have been a warning shot. I don't know but with all of the video and audio coming out of them, i believe a chain reaction has started, and they mentioned rhythm which spooks me.

It appears that Internet giant Google goes out of its way to carry unpatriotic, ant–Semitic and conspiratorial hate sites on its Google News.

These "Conspiracy Planet" titles, for example, are indexed on Google News (http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&ie=UTF-8&q=%22conspiracy+planet%22&btnG=Search+News ). They included, "George W. ‘Lips' Bush : First Gay US President?" and "Bush - Pope Ratzinger Money Laundry Conspiracy" and "Gannon: Gay Hooker in White House Services Pols."

Then there are offerings from the pro-Islamic anti-American "Jihad Unspun", whose moniker is "A Clear View of the US War on ‘Terrorism.'"

One article was titled, "BEWARE: The New AMERICAN Quran Is Another Devious Trick." Another was called, "Jaish Al-Islami Assassinates High Profile US Officials..."

As my friend terror researcher Johnathan R. Galt (who is primarily responsible for the research in this article) told me he wrote in a recent e-mail to Google, "Why are you (Google) evil?"

What made this situation worse was that Google News banned the Jawa Report (http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/073310.php), which features pro-American commentary.

In fact, Google apparently charged the Jawa Report with propagating "hate speech."

The Google Team reportedly wrote to the Jawa administrator, "Upon recent review, we've found that your site contains hate speech, and we will no longer be including it in Google News. If you can guarantee that your news no longer includes hate speech, we will be happy to re-review the site for inclusion."

The Jawa administrator wrote (http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/073310.php ), "I challenge Google News to find one instance of ‘hate speech' on this site that is not either a case of sarcasm, humor, or a direct quote used in the context of a post that attempts to do just the opposite. Unless, of course, Google News considers saying bad things about Jew hating anti-semites, fascists who would impose religious law, or those that cut off the heads of innocent civilians hate speech. Cause in my book, that's a good thing."

And as Galt wrote to Google, "Do the Google employees who decide which sites are worth including as valid news sources REALLY HATE JEWS and AMERICANS?"

Well, not all, I'm sure, Johnathan. But more than 24 hours after writing to Google's abuse department reporting on a radical Islamic and apparently pro-terrorist blog (http://mojahidmouslim.blogspot.com) , the site is still on line.

The blog features a computer manipulated image of President George W. Bush clad in an orange jump suit sitting before five Islamic executioners and is hosted by Google.

Isn't that a threat against the President of the United States? Should it remain on line and hosted by one of the most talked about companies in the United States?

Another graphic image on the same blog shows former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld all engulfed in flames.

Aren't those also pretty overt threats?

And as an aside. I run Joy Junction, New Mexico's largest emergency homeless shelter. While our web site obviously features a lot of information about shelter activities, it also includes some news items of interest to conservatives and reports of some of the efforts I have made to combat cyber terror (www.joyjunction.org/bulletin).

Because of its news content, our web master has tried four times to get our site on Google News. Sadly, but maybe not surprisingly, we're still waiting. Could it be that the Jawa Report's no longer being carried by Google News is for the same reason that Joy Junction's web site has never been carried?

Could there be a liberal, anti-conservative, anti-American bent among some of Google's staff? It certainly appears that way, because for the moment there's no Joy (Junction) at Google News.

With that in mind, if you'd write (politely) to Google at source-suggestions@google.com and ask them what they have against the Jawa Report and Joy Junction, we'd both appreciate it!

CHURCH ATTACKED AND BURNED TO THE GROUND
Sixth Time Gospel For Asia Building Has Been Targeted

A church affiliated with Gospel for Asia has been burned to the ground by insurgents.

According to a news release from Gospel for Asia (GFA), this is the third attack on the building this year and the sixth time it has been targeted by arsonists.

GFA officials said that police are investigating the April 19 attack on the Believers Church located in the Thoubal district in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur. Four Christians associated with the church were injured in the violence, including one man who had to be hospitalized for his injuries.

"Such opposition is a daily fact of life for our missionaries on the front lines in many parts of Asia," said Gospel for Asia Founder and President K.P. Yohannan in a news release. "I ask the body of Christ pray daily for their persecuted brothers and sisters in these situations."

In an emergency meeting, Christian leaders in Manipur agreed to form an Inter-Church Peace Council and contact the state's Minorities Commission.

According to ministry officials, the Believers Church had been previously attacked twice this year, and a local court had ordered police to provide security while reconstruction took place. However, according to the GFA news release, a local newspaper reported that opponents have warned church members to abandon the premises or "face the consequences." Church officials vowed to rebuild.

"Christ calls us to take His message to ‘the least of these,'" Yohannan said in the news release. "We will not be deterred from sharing the love of Christ and obeying what Jesus has called us to do, no matter what the cost."

GFA LAUNCHES FIRST INDIAN-BASED CHRISTIAN TELEVISION NETWORK

In other GFA news, the organization recently announced the launch of the first Christian television network to be based in India.

The 24-hour a day network will broadcast Christian programming on three separate satellite channels once it becomes fully operational, Yohannan said in a news release.

"We have been praying about these opportunities for so long - to reach the masses in the 10/40 window region," Yohannan said. "No one is currently providing this type of outreach from the subcontinent."

The network will be called AY TV, which stands for Athmik Yathra (Spiritual Journey). Initial efforts call for the ministry to launch with 16 hours of programming, beginning this fall.

The satellite footprint for the new network will be massive, Yohannan said, reaching all of Asia, the Arab Gulf countries, and parts of Africa as well. One channel will carry English programming 24 hours a day; the other two will feature native languages. Half a billion people on the Indian subcontinent, for example, speak the Hindi language.

"Our goal is to focus 70 percent of the programming on evangelization and 30 percent on discipleship," Yohannan said. "We want to see people reached with the gospel message."

GFA announced in the news release it is opening the network to other Christian broadcasters who want to provide programming that will reach Asia. On-site production in India has already begun.

GFA is well acquainted with Christian broadcasting. Its 19-year-old international radio broadcasts already reach 1.5 billion people in 11 Asian countries.

In 2003, the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) awarded Yohannan its Individual Achievement Award in International Broadcasting.

With headquarters in Carrollton, Texas, GFA trains and sends native missionaries into the most unreached areas of Asia. More than 14,000 GFA native missionaries are now planting more than 15 churches a day in 10 Asian nations.
