The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

They want to put a floating LNG port in Long Island Sound, between about New Haven and whatever city is across the sound in Long Island. People are objecting but....it doesn't look good.

ClearChannel, the apparent owner of the billboard, announced a "Multicultural Sales and Marketing Initiative" to expand its focus on "serving the fast-growing U.S. Hispanic and African American population."

There's a difference between serving and PANDERING. What marketing / advertising company came up with this brilliant un-american /anti-American idea?

Doubtful. Because it was fleshy, it was found. What about colorless liquids? Who notices them? If lots of flesh was found, that signifies a large animal. If a large animal can get in, there's an access point that needs to be closed up.

"Pirates hijack Indonesian cargo ship, then breach Malaysian port security"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Pirates hijacked a tin-laden Indonesian ship traveling to Singapore and held the crew captive for two days while unloading the cargo in a Malaysian port, a maritime watchdog said Tuesday.

The pirates, believed to be Indonesians, fired gunshots at the ship and boarded it Friday shortly after it had left Muntok port on the southern tip of Sumatra island, said Noel Choong, head of the International Maritime Bureau's piracy reporting center in Kuala Lumpur.

They ordered the crew to sail to Pasir Gudang port in Malaysia's southern Johor state, where the vessel docked for two days while the crew hauled the cargo into a warehouse, Choong said."

Bombs damage train tracks

QUETTA: Two bombs exploded at a five-hour interval on a railway track in Dera Allah Yar, some 340 kilometres south of Quetta, on Tuesday.

Police officer Abdul Latif Baloch said that a police team found a bomb and was searching the track for more bombs when the first bomb went off. He said three policemen suffered minor injuries.

“The bomb exploded after Chiltan Express had just passed the railway track and Quetta Express was a few kilometres away,” a local journalist said.

Baloch said that the police had arrested two suspects on the basis of information given by witnesses. The second bomb exploded at about 10.45pm near the Sohbatpur railway crossing. A police official told Daily Times by phone that the explosion had damaged the track, but no casualty was reported.
