Interesting how Rep. Tancredo wants them to call off the project.

Minuteman organizer James T. Gilchrist last night told a gathering of the Minuteman volunteers at the organization's command center that Mr. Tancredo had encouraged him to shut down the project, saying the mission had been "accomplished."

Bump.

By the U.S. Border Patrol's count, the apprehensions so far this month are down by more than 50 percent. Mr. Tancredo also said Mexican military units have diverted migrants east and west away from a 20-mile stretch of Arizona-Mexico border being patrolled by the Minutemen, "showing that the Mexican government can control the exits if it chooses to do."

Indeed, that aspect of the mission is accomplished. The political point is made.

Tancredo most likely must fear that the open-border crowd will do something in the remaining weeks to sabotage that message...by of course creating the "incident" they have been thirsting to produce. He has probably got some tip to that effect. Maybe Rove himself told him to knock it off, or "else."

Yes, they are diverting them to areas that are not being patrolled so they can cross over unhassled. Watch for border skirmishes before too long. GW's buddy Vincente is behind this; he's no friend of ours.

You have demonstrated that a physical presence on the border will deter illegal crossings

How totally inept must be this bloated bureaucracy of political hacks we call a government! Golly whiz ... imagine that ... a physical presence actually might work ... now there's an idea the official important Washington caucus never thought of. We were thinking more along the lines of passing some more laws.
