THE WASHINGTON TIMES
PALOMINAS, Ariz. -- The chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus yesterday declared the "Minuteman Project" border vigil a success and invited its organizers to Washington next week to meet with members of Congress. "Congratulations on your immensely successful Minuteman Project," Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, said in a letter. "By all reports you have accomplished your primary mission, which was to draw public attention to the deplorable and unacceptable conditions on our borders. "You have demonstrated that a physical presence on the border will deter illegal crossings, and the world can now see this," he said. By the U.S. Border Patrol's count, the apprehensions so far this month are down by more than 50 percent.

Interesting how Rep. Tancredo wants them to call off the project.
Bump.
What is he selling .......in return for what ........from whom?
Minuteman says to Tancredo: Shove it.
Interesting. Thanks for the post.
Indeed, that aspect of the mission is accomplished. The political point is made.
Tancredo most likely must fear that the open-border crowd will do something in the remaining weeks to sabotage that message...by of course creating the "incident" they have been thirsting to produce. He has probably got some tip to that effect. Maybe Rove himself told him to knock it off, or "else."
"Mr. Tancredo also said Mexican military units have diverted migrants east and west away from a 20-mile stretch of Arizona-Mexico border being patrolled by the Minutemen, "showing that the Mexican government can control the exits if it chooses to do."
Yes, they are diverting them to areas that are not being patrolled so they can cross over unhassled. Watch for border skirmishes before too long. GW's buddy Vincente is behind this; he's no friend of ours.
How totally inept must be this bloated bureaucracy of political hacks we call a government! Golly whiz ... imagine that ... a physical presence actually might work ... now there's an idea the official important Washington caucus never thought of. We were thinking more along the lines of passing some more laws.
of course. If the whole border was being guarded then you'd have aconfrontation....

Hey, why don't they pay the Minutemen to guard the border?
