Man Living in Closet Charged With Murder

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A man was beaten to death after catching his wife's lover living in a closet in their home, police said Tuesday.

Rafael DeJesus Rocha-Perez, 35, was charged with homicide in the slaying of 44-year-old Jeffrey A. Freeman over the weekend.

"From time to time, you come across a case with very unique - even bizarre - circumstances," police spokesman Don Aaron said. "This one probably rates right up there with them."

Freeman's wife had allowed Rocha-Perez to live in a closet of the Freemans' four-bedroom home for about a month without her husband's knowledge, police said. On Sunday, her husband heard Rocha-Perez snoring and discovered him, authorities said.

Freeman ordered his wife to get the man out of the house while he went for a walk, authorities said. Martha Freeman told authorities that when her husband returned, Rocha-Perez confronted him with a shotgun, forced him into a bathroom and bludgeoned him.

The Freemans were co-owners of a company that does background checks for apartment rental and job applicants.

*LOL!!!* Thank you (I think) for refreshing my memory of that dreadful film! Oh, it had some good laughs for sure! Probably had more than one homeowner getting out a measuring tape, and tapping on walls, especially if they ever had some food missing from their fridge...

In 1910, writer and lover Otto Sanhuber had lived in the Oesterreich attic for about three years.

All about Otto Sanhuber

"Rafael DeJesus Rocha-Perez" Um...this guy is from Tennessee? Right.

Come on. He's an Illegal, just having sex with American women and doing the jobs their American husbands won't do. *SNICKER*

wsmv.com's story says it was a "Love Triangle" and that this guy was the wife's boyfriend.

Another movie comes to mind -- "Body Heat", with Kathleen Turner.

As in the movie, the plan here to off the husband in the middle of the night went a bit off-plan.

I suspect that the boyfriend was hidden in the closet and the plan was for him to emerge from the closet in the middle of the night as an "intruder" and kill the husband. Instead, he dozed off while lying-in-wait, and the husband heard him snoring!! Go figure!

Husband then screwed up royally (and fatally) when he took the passive/wimp response of asking his murderous wife to "solve" the problem. He didn't survive that mistake.

You know, I've lived in small apartments before, when I was young and more adaptable, but I'd draw the line at living in a closet......

I share a closet. This could not have happened in my house.

I mean honestly, if you WERE going to have a boyfriend, wouldn't you want him to at least be able to afford his own closet?
