"I'm not arguing your point at all (though I can, if you want). I'm saying that your "proof" is no proof at all."
Hitler's logic is seductive and very similar to those who preach euthanasia today. I proved it, although only to me and the one I talked with.
Who said liberals ever had respect for individuals?!? You just illustrated my point.
Don't kid yourself. Terri's death was used to hype the Living Will.
Uh, I don't think that's why the Schindler's fought things.
This gives judges the power over life and death, because in the GA case, the judge clearly ruled against the stipulations of this woman's wishes. Judges do that, you know.
From what I can see in retrospect, it now seems like the judge didn't rule against the woman's wishes, since he ruled that things would be decided by the panel of doctors.
Our worthless legislators need to get some laws protecting the lives of those with a Living Will in place, because euthanasia is obviously the next big thing for the culture of death.
Agreed. Protecting the lives, and protecting the rights, of them. Some of us focus on palliative care in our living wills, some on life at all costs, some on family burdens, some on "loss of independence," etc. Whatever we choose, it should be respected. Euthanasia is part of that, but it MUST be voluntary, or have the rules laid out clearly (such as how the spousal relationship has always been respected for such decisions, or a health care proxy's. or with durable power of attorney).
Supercat--care to try again?
Gondring- such public bs is your "see how much I care touch stone"- in order to humbly save face. Good for you. You did not defend Terri's life, not once on this forum. Simple facts. Since you did not support Terri's Fight for Life, then you have never supported Mae M.,or those like her. Take your relative morality and use it, when others call your life as a task to burden.
Gondring- in spite of my last comment to ya- I truly hope you never have Terri or Mae's circumstance's befall you. Best regards...Treader
If you read her open page forum regarding Mae's hospice....YOU SEE A CONNECTION TO THE SUNCOAST HOSPICE OF FLORIDA....where Terri was imprisoned, illegallly. I find this horrific.
The following is from this website and addresses the FOUNDATION OF HOSPICE via our INSPECTOR GENERAL's office! It is RIFE with comments about medicare/medicaid fraud, which another website dedicated to justice, TheEmpireJournal.com, has investigated totally regarding terri's plight as a victem of HOSPICE FRAUD.
Read on:
"Hospice that enrolls Non-Terminal Patients Commits Fraud"
"The United States Office of Inspector General has issued its warning to the public about questionable hospice agency practices and stated that some hospices have been found to engage in, "practices which ... have inappropriately maximized their Medicare reimbursements at beneficiary expense. These practices include: Making incorrect determinations of a persons life expectancy for purposes of meeting hospice eligibility criteria." A hospice that bills Medicare, Medicaid or a private insurer for a non-terminal patient is violating the contracts which allow hospices to provide services for the terminally ill.
Hospices are not licensed to care for the chronically ill. In order for a patient to be admitted to hospice, the physician must "certify" that the patient is likely to die within six months due to a terminal illness. Terri Schiavo has no terminal illness; the only cause of death in her case would be her intentional murder by those intent on ending her life.
Original Hospice Mission Violated
The original hospice mission is to care for, support and manage the symptoms of the terminally ill until a death occurs in its own natural timing. Every hospice nurse and physician knows that hospice is supposed to neither hasten death nor seek to cure the terminal illness. Hastening the death of a patient goes against everything hospice stands for.
Although Terri Schiavo's case will be decided in a Pinellas County courthouse, any hospice that accepts a chronically ill patient has violated not only the spirit of hospice and the mission of hospice, but the **federal regulations** governing hospice.
Read the entire article. There's much more:

The remedy is purely financial though. That is, the regulation describes the conditions for obtaining federal funds, but does not make the activity otherwise illegal.
Note too, Terri's demise was expressly upheld by the full range of state and federal courts. Perfectly legal.
