‘You're going to create a lot of innocent victims’ (Liberal Rant on Florida Self Defense Law )
Democracy Now ^ | April 6, 2005 | Amy Goodman

(Executive Director of the Florida Coalition to Stop Gun Violence ): 'This bill is literally a jihad against public safety . In your house, you won't have to retreat. Who might be in your house besides the EMS, police officer, my nephew that has the key to my house? When you meet somebody in the middle of the dark in the house, are you going to say, “Did you break into my house?” No, he's going to say, I’m going to repeat the NRA’s magic words, I felt threatened and I’m going to pull the trigger. What's going to happen in cars? Now, a car is your castle. Does everyone approach your car going to be a criminal? It doesn't make any difference what the bill says. What you are doing here is empowering gun owners to act. All they’re going to hear is I don't have to retreat, and if I feel threatened, I can pull the trigger. You're going to create a lot of innocent victims.

You know, somebody breaks into your house, you know, you can apply deadly force(right now). When you do shoot somebody(prior to this new law), the police ask you to set down and tell us what happened. The courts have always ruled in favor of the man that was defending himself. So, it's not true that you cannot defend yourself for the current law.'

A sampling from the April 6th, 2005 debate on Florida Self Defense Law between :

Marion Hammer , lobbyist for the National Rifle Association and the executive director of the United Sportsmen of Florida. She is the former president of the NRA.

and

Arthur Hayhoe, executive director of the Florida Coalition to Stop Gun Violence

Oh no, the Wild Wild West is coming back . It seems that criminals have a constitution right to safety when breaking into your house. The highlight of the debate was after (gun control) ARTHUR HAYHOE asks for it : 'Give us an example of people being arrested for protecting themselves' as if Marion did not have many.

That's why they make double-action triggers.

‘You're going to create a lot of innocent victims’

That's odd... I'm certain that the criminals are creating lots of innocent victims! Some of them would like the opportunity to defend themselves!

Sometimes it loses its "edge" when they edit out the swear words and the "Ya knows" ;'}

This bill is literally a jihad against public safety.

In the world according to this illiterate, the bill sponsor stormed the floor of the Florida legislature screaming, "Destroy the infidel public safety! Allah wills it!!"

So I guess if a gunman goes on a rampage this person would rather get blown away than see another citizen take the gunman out?

‘You're going to create a lot of innocent victims’

If a stranger breaks into my house at night, they're no "innocent victim." As usual, the leftists demonstrate their only real concern is for the "guilty perpetrators."

Arthur Hayhoe, executive director of the Florida Coalition to Stop Gun Violence

Ole Arthur might as well pin a $100 bill to his a$$ and scream; "Victim here! Victim here"

Geesh!

If someone kicks down your door and comes running in with a knife and demands 'GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!!!' I think it is pretty much a sure thing he isn't so "innocent". If you decide to smoke him right there instead of retreating to the closet in your 2nd bathroom there isn't a jury in Florida that would convict.

What if the dirtbag has a knife and is about to stick your son/daughter/father/mother. Show me someone that would retreat instead of plugging the badguy and I'll show you a spineless liberal.

My God, we've got an anti gun guy debating a pro gun female, and he comes off sounding like a hysterical old maid.

What you are doing here is empowering gun owners to act.

That's right: we want criminals to be afraid of breaking into folks' homes. Ms. Marion Hammer has done another fine job of shepherding this bill through.

Onwards and upwards: Now it's time for Florida to start working on Vermont/Alaska carry. Having been a leader with CCW and Gun Owner Empowerment, now it's time to see Florida show more leadership in the fight for our right to keep and bear arms.

"You're going to create a lot of innocent victims"

This is funny as hell - because these words are exactly the marching orders of the libs and demonrats when creating/administering government programs..to them, it's a "good thing"

Caveat Emptor.

I love to watch Amy Goodman on FSTV. It's funny and abslutely stunning that anyone with more than a hockey score IQ could take these people seriously. You really can't comment with authority on how screwed up the American left is until you see FSTV-they're much farther out there than most conservatives realize. The 'documentaries' are so poorly scripted, researched and photographed that they're entertaining. It's a train wreck.

The Loony Left has been waiting for road rage shootouts to occur in shall issue states, and it just plain hasn't happened. But they can still hope...

"You're going to create a lot of innocent victims"

Typical liberal thinking that criminals are innocent and that law-abiding people who defend themselves from predation are criminals.

Someone PLEASE kidnap this arrogant son of a bitch and drop him off, unarmed, in Compton, Liberty City, Harlem, Detroit, or Washington, D.C. and let him experience first-hand why unarmed people in these areas get a special name from the police:

VICTIMS.
