Senate playing games with soldiers' safety

The U.S. Senate is playing the most cynical of games.

Reports from Washington tell us that Republican senators are going to attach part of the President's illegal alien amnesty program to an emergency-spending bill. As a former congressman, I know how this scam works.

You pick the most offensive bill you can find and attach it to a piece of legislation that everyone knows must be passed.

So what have Republican leaders in the U.S. Senate decided to hold hostage?

The safety of U.S. troops overseas.

That's right, sports fans.

U.S. Senators are holding American soldiers and Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan hostage because of this Illegal Immigrant Protection bill. And these politicians have done it by tying the Illegal Alien Protection Act with an $80 billion Emergency Funding bill aimed at funding our troops overseas.

Why would they do this?

Well, senators play these sleazy games because it provides them cover when they are back in their home districts explaining to a local yokel why they had to vote for that terrible amnesty bill.

"Those rascals in the Senate," I can almost hear him say to the star-struck constituent, "well, they attached the dad burn amnesty program to a funding bill for our troops. I had to vote for it because I couldn't leave our young boys over there without any support, could I?"

Of course not, the impressed voter mutters back, thinking to themselves that doing such an awful thing would make even Jane Fonda blush.

That is the problem. The way the Republicans are acting is bad enough but the Dems would be even worse.

Ag Bill attempt, too. GWB/Pubbies are determined to get amnesty for illegals.

Looks like Vincente's recent visit is in the process of paying off. Amnesty are getting back on tract, pre-911.

The only reason it is even making the news, and the Dims are supposedly against it, is because the MSM and Dims know what a wedge issue it is for us. It seems to be working as I see a lot of willing accomplices for the Dims and MSM on this forum lately. It may be a mess, but the fix that many advocate (making Bush and the Republicans pay) is like putting your gun in your mouth to prevent shooting yourself in the foot...

Hey Joe- WaddaYa Know? It's a scam no doubt but the Liars
Club is well versed at scams. And the "independence " of our Government branches( as noted by Senator Frist recently) when carried to the logical extreme makes our
government irrelevant in their independence. The majority of those who bother to register and vote seems to suggest John
Q Public cares less about our Government and what they impose on us than our elected and selected government agents care about John Q.Citizen. The question become Will it go round in circles?
