None of us know the specifics yet, but come on. If delay did anything illegal, we ought not defend him. I am not going to excuse this because other people do it as well. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying throw him to the dogs. It is important that we keep our standards high for our own leaders.

What a crock; the Corrupt Old Media is on a partisan witch hunt against DeLay, and you want to give them credibility for it?!

DeLay is as clean as can be. This is all manufactured nonsense, and it won't work.

I agree that if DeLay did something wrong we shouldn't support him blindly, but this story is pretty sketchy at best.

Sources connected to the trip

Who?

Throughout the story there are quotes around phrases such as "fancy dinner" and other such nonsense. Who exactly said these words that are quoted? I've read big-deal page one stories that knock the socks off somebody, and this ain't one. This smells like another dud in what's turning out to be a long fishing expedition.

I think the specifics were pretty well laid out in the article and once again it's trial by innuendo and non news sensationalism to create an appearance of wrongdoing that does not exist.

It's become such a BLATANT attempt by the mainstream media to smear DeLay with ANYTHING that they are starting to look like a bunch of yapping little media mutts snapping at the heels of a Great Dane. Rathergate was a joke compared to this smear campaign.

Most Congressman take trips and talk to lobbyists. That's how DC works.

Where is the ongoing coverage of Hillary's "Hollywood Gate" where her campaign underreported $500,000 in fundraising?

Where is the ongoing converage of Pelosi's fundraising and lobbysit activity that is FAR more suspicious than anything DeLay has done?

Where is the daily coverage of Clinton and Kerry's adviser stealing and shredding classified docunents and then lying to cover it up

There are many more examples of this absolute blatant ignoring of real issues in an attempt to smear DeLay with non-issues.

I hope it motivates conservatives to come out in droves to overwhelmingly support him in the next election.

Tom Delay can do whatever he wants to as far as I'm concerned. I don't believe the MSM anyway. It's all lies.

I agree. We need to be the party of high standards, not the party of hypocrites.

This is a bunch of crap. We let Nixon go down to this crowd and jumped every time they whistled "scandal" during the Reagan years. Then we saw how seriously they took clean government when they were in power during the nineties.

Politics ain't about electing popes and preachers. The Democrats love to hold me to standards on my job that their president was excused from. Delay could rob six trains a day and a couple of banks for all I care. "If he can do the job....."
