There's nothing shocking in this country anymore. If it's stupid, immoral, against children, against public safety or otherwise outlandish, not only will it be done, but it will be praised by a doting leftist press.
Your statement reminded me of a famous one from 2000 years ago:
"There is nothing so absurd that some philosopher has not already said it." --Cicero
The more things change, the more they stay the same. The scary thing is, we seem to be even more grotesque in the extent of our decadence and the depths of our depravity than the Romans ever were....

"Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly homosexual bishop of his denomination, has angered traditionalist Anglicans by suggesting that Jesus Christ might have been homosexual."
Sure, Gene. Whatever salves your conscience.
To: DaveTesla
This is just uncalled-for.

There's always the LCMS.
They're still fighting the good fight.
But you're most certainly welcome across the Tiber here in Rome. :-)

Gee, if you watch the History Channel and some of their questionable fact digging about the life of Jesus, one would get the impression that he and Mary were a thing.
I do wish these anti-Christian historical revisionists would get their stories straight.

Robinson, however remains undaunted by the criticism, saying he has reconciled his homosexuality and his faith. "God's light and God's life ooze over me like warm butter," he declares.Sure, buddy....just as the proverbial lava of Hell will ooze over your "soul" when you finally are shown that God's Words aren't to be twisted for your perverse agenda.

I'm chaste because I don't have a wife and I've given up screwing around, not that I have any prospects right now. But it certainly doesn't make me gay.
The good thing is in my thirties I worried about being in my mid-forties and people thinking I'm gay. Now I'm in my mid-forties, and I don't give a sh!t. They can all go to he\\.

Trouble is the Romans are worse. Preaching abstinence and no birth control, then conspiring to rape little boys, with knowledge and support from the Archdiocese. In the Episcopal church I at least have a vestry I have some control over. In the popery I have the right to sit down and shut up. So don't give me that holier than thou crap, fella. I still love the roman church though.

The History (aka Hitler) Channel is horrible. Every Christian program is questionable experts with no cited sources attempting to deconstruct ancient Christian traditions. It's horrible.

According to Elaine Pagels, noted Gnostic professor, the source is the Gospel of Peter. I have read the excerpts. You have to supply certain words to the text, and, of course, Elaine supplies those which make the situation between Our Lord and MM clearly sexual. If you take only the words available in the text, no such inference is even possible, but it is almost identical a relationship to that shown in the canonical Gospels.
But then, imagination is Elaine's best friend.

"God's light and God's life ooze over me like warm butter," he declares. More like margarine. You know, the fake stuff. "Tastes like butter, but it isn't!"

Gays have to read gay into everyone and everything to make them feel more normal.
I always love when they claim that long dead people are gay - like Lincoln and Alexander the Great and now Jesus. These people aren't around to defend themselves and therefore the finger is pointed and the stigma remains.
FYI - still ain't normal.

I have no idea about the legal ownership of the property; I suspect it's ultimately the ECUSA. It's pretty hard to think about leaving this church. The parish is like an extended family. However, I will leave if necessary.
Like you, I am no longer surprised at anything the federal courts do.
