Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, the well-known forensic pathologist and coroner of Allegheny County, Pa., told listeners of a morning radio show that he was denied permission to observe Terri Schiavo's autopsy, despite the wishes of her parents.
A medical examiner in Pinellas County, Florida, is conducting an autopsy that could help determine what Schiavo's state of consciousness was and whether she was abused by her husband, as the Schindlers allege. Wecht, appearing on the syndicated America's Morning Show with Quinn and Rose, based in Pittsburgh, said that an investigator working for the Schindler's law firm had called him on Thursday to see whether he would be agreeable to observing the autopsy.
Dr. Wecht told Quinn and Rose he was certainly be agreeable to that, but that several hours later he received word that the medical examiner had declined to give him permission.
Dr. Wecht told the morning hosts that he considered this a mistake, according to Rose Somma Tennent. "He said that, if this were in [his] office, [he] would have said sure - not just because of professional courtesy, but because of the controversy sourrounding this case," Somma Tennet said.
Calls made during the show to the medical examiner's office were not returned.
The results from the autopsy are expected in a few weeks.
No, he said "Just because you're paranoid doesn't really mean they're not out to get you."
"Did I just hear on the news that the judge has ruled that Michael can see the autopsy reports but no one else??"
What,Really??
I love that show! I was thinking the same thing last night when I was watching it. LOL
Another new state law. Came about because of the race car driver, family did not want pictures on the net. As I understand it, the law expires 2006, so after that they could be available. Also couple of other exceptions-- something about government could but really did not understand that.
WHAT????? The report has been made and Michael gets to see it and no one else till it is released a couple of months from now? GGGRRRR, that is just not right!
Also, if the ME thought that there was foul play in the autopsy the authorities would already been informed.
You might want to do a little investigating before you assume an outside observer is not needed. Point in fact, that town is not only corrupt, it's run by and for the Scientologists. You do know about the Scientologists correct? They make the Moonies look like children.
Well, if it helps Cyril Wecht did the alien autopsy ... Google it.
Wonder if the state can order someone to observer or perform it?
Not surprising. Mikey has got lots of things to hide and so does the judicial system. Remember her body will be cremated and ashes thrown to the winds so nothing can come back to haunt little Mikey and those judges that stood by and let this murder occur.
But the refusal to admit anyone to simply observe the process would seem suspicious. Do they bar all observers for all autopsies? I doubt it given the potential litigation that surrounds many deaths. The presence of an observer appears reasonable and even necessary given the controversy surrounding this death and the refusal by the ME to permit this is suspicious IMO.
Scott Peterson didn't act anywhere near as guilty as this, and he's on death row. Michael Schiavo has been busy trying to cover up things since the beginning.
Florida is a cesspool of corruption and has been for decades. I'm suspicious.
"Where is Jordan Cavenaugh when we really need her?
I love that show! I was thinking the same thing last night when I was watching it. LOL"
I love it too, and it and Law and Order are the only series I watch, except for an occasional Seinfeld. I not a big TV watcher.
I just started watching it in reruns on A&E. I think the characters are fascinating and some of the story lines very interesting. It is well written, well acted, and has really good music.
Did you know that Miguel Ferrer, Dr. Garrett Macy, is the son of Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney?
Normally, yes.
Normally it would be safe to assume he is a neutral party.
But, as crooked as it appears parts of the county to be, I don't trust him either.
Could have probably been released a week ago...
My first thought was that it had already been written, too.
I think not allowing Dr. Wecht to observe the autopsy looks as if there is something to hide. It is certainly ammunition for those who do not trust her husband or the county officials.
He is an employee of PinHELLas County. What do you think?
I did a very quick scan to see if anyone put this link up. It's the archived show for today. Right-click and "save target as..." and you'll have the show for today.
What the sam hill are you talking about? He's just asking to observe while the ME does the autopsy.
Just how many opportunities for corruption are available to your typical ME?
