Well, would you like to wager how many times on the MSM over the coming weeks, they will say that the last years of his life were marred by the sex scandals in the RC church in the USA

There's no such things a Mary Catholicspray. What did you think that was some sort of hairspray?

Oh Oh...I think my question I just asked will get the same response. I really feel like you do. As I read and hear the TV I get questions.

The last pope, "Peter the Roman", is Jesus Christ, when He returns.

I thought the prophecy was that Peter the Roman would be an apostate antichrist?

I think that in a time like this we are all Catholic. God Bless the Pope. Prayers from a Baptist.

Amen.

The Hail Mary Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed are you among women
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Lifelong Catholic. It is asking for Mary's intercession for any/all of us.

Do Catholics believe that once saved always saved?

The short answer is no. 8-)

We have the sacrament of confession where we can recieve eternal forgiveness for our sins. That said, there still is a punishment for us either or eath or in purgatory for sins even after they are confessed.

I don't mean to be disrespectful during this unfortunate time...

But can someone explain to me, a Protestant, why Catholics pray to Mary? The Bible says there is only one mediator between God and man, Jesus. And why do Catholics call the Pope "Holy Father"? I was just reading a passage in John where Jesus is praying for the disciples, and he says, "Holy Father," to address our Heavenly Father, God.

Just wondering and hoping to understand better.

Having been chastised earlier myself, this is probably not the right thread for those questions.

Catholics believe we are saved by faith, but that faith needs to be sustained with good works. We are all capable of rejecting God until our last breath, or making peace with Him in our last breath despite a liferime of service or a lifetime of rebellion. Christ won redemption for us on the cross, but justice dictates that sin must still carry a price.

Beautiful response.

Is there anyone else here who finds it a bit offensive the way CNN and much of the media are describing the Pope as "clinging to life"?

Ding Ding Ding!@ We have a winner! You got it just right, Mr. Lucky. Remember, Mary was the mother of a teenage son who didn't always come home when he was supposed to.
