Maybe you don't even have to say it. Just be unfortunate enough to have a spouse who thinks you'd be better off dead, and certainly he would. How many copycat Michaels will this case turn up? I bet plenty.

About the videos- I sent a link to my son a while back (he's 16) to a conservative website by the kid who started a conservative group for HS students. Well, the web page has links to the videos. I told my son I didn't expect him to watch them- but he misunderstood my email and watched the Berg video. I felt so bad! He was horrified- but he told me it made him angry and wanted to get the terrorists- and this played out later in that he gave a speech in speech class on why we must fight the war on terror (and he mentioned the video). I think he got an A on it, so I thought good- his whole class got a good lesson that day!

I'm sorry, but "clear and convincing evidence" should consist of a bit more than comments that are little more than hearsay, and not even believable ones at that.

"Believable" is in the eye of the beholder - it's a judgement call, limited by the extent and fallibility of human judgement, unless and until we perfect those law-dispensing machines.

One other thing -- aren't you the least bit curious as to Michael Schiavo waited until *after* winning the malpractice suits against the doctors to tell a judge about Terri's wish to die? He constantly says that he is merely fulfilling her wishes, yet he waited a good eight years before actually attempting to act on her alleged wish.

There is an alternate explanation, of course - he honestly wished for and hoped for her recovery at first, and he did apparently take steps in the early years to promote her recovery. Then as time passed and it became clear that she was not going to recover, he began considering what she might have wanted in such an event. Obviously, I don't read minds, and hence cannot say what was really going through his head at any given moment, but some process like that that would seem to explain the sequence of events fairly plausibly.

I really hope all the Bush bashing ends, it's wrong and non-productive. The Left would love to see us destroy ourselves and not make any progess.

Amen to that. We know they read FR, just as they listen to Rush, et al, and rejoice in anything they perceive to be damaging to us. We must try to hold together and support the President. His judiciary appointments will be very key to the success of conservative principles and policies.

"I'll never understand why Michael didn't hand over control of his ex-wife's affairs to Terri's parents...there's simply no way to justify that aspect of this MURDER!!"

I heard I think it was Scott Schiavo talking with Greta Van Sustern the other night and she was mentioning about the money and he said there was some life indurance but the settlement money was all but gone. If there was a big life insurance payout then that would explain why he held onto guardianship and did not divorce her. Any abuse that would have been found would have been beyond the statute of limitations. He was controlling of her before her "accident" and he never wanted to give up control. What I can't figure out is what kind of life insurance company would pay on someone who had died from forced starvation??

This has been a sad day for the Schindlers and for our country, we still have lots of reasons to pray.

Personally I have decided to go to nursing school so that I will be able to care for my aging parents and disabled children myself if it ever comes to do it myself or let the government kill them. And that I fear is where we are headed.

One of my older daughters is going to college to be a pediatric surgical nurse. She was inspired by them when my little girl had a shunt malfunction and nearly died. She wants to be able to help her should something happen to me and my husband.

With what has happened today with Terri, she is even more determined.

Maybe some enterprising reporter in Florida will notice a flood of elderly/ailing whose nearest and dearest suddenly recall that Joe/Nancy wanted a quick end versus a long, dreary, and expensive hook up. Once it's so glaringly obvious that the law, such as it is, is being abused, the legislature will be forced to act. The publicity about Terri's case has been so extensive that Florida is the world's laughingstock...again. Worldwide shame and humiliation, at any rate.

I wish the Schindlers had been able to afford a terrific lawyer fifteen years ago.

I wonder what the present mistress, and future wife of MS thinks about him INSISTING on taking Terri's ashes up to his family plot in Pennsylvania---? I would think it kinda creepy if I was her--

I hope her living will is in her lawyers safe where hubby can't get to it.

It is creepy beyond belief.

It certainly could explain it- but it does not explain his persistence in the face of doubts and her family's protestations, it doesn't explain his mockery of his marriage vows, it doesn't explain his barring her family from her many times- even in her final hour. It doesn't explain much at all other than the delay in expressing her supposed wishes.

I agree and really hate what passes for entertainment on tv for the most part; it is poisonous for our children. I try to limit it as much as possible for my 8 year old, but kids somehow always find a way to glom onto the current culture, mostly through public school. That's why next year she is going to a Christian Academy.

But you are so right, when the interest in these voyeuristic programs dry up, the money will run out. And that will be it for this particular cultural garbage scow.

only problem is that the ME stated that he will allow NO ONE else there.

I hope I'm not smelling whitewash and cover-up.

To: ariamne; Jim Robinson

You know that reminds me of the statement Jim Robinson made some time back about we need to have a common cause to get Bush elected and get conservative judges- that our overwhelming concern should be activist judges. He caught alot of flak for that as I recall. He's absolutely right though.

Where in the world does it cost $300,000 for nursing school? Did Michael include the two new Mercedes as tuition? The mind boggles.
