Bob and Mary Schindler, both practicing Catholics, urged dozens of supporters gathered outside the Florida hospice where Schiavo is being cared for to go home for Easter.
"The family would request that everyone go home, be with your children, hold them close and share every moment you have with them," said Brother Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who is a spiritual adviser to the Schindlers.
It was not clear if the Schindlers had finally abandoned all legal avenues in their fight to restart their 41-year-old daughter's feeding, a cause that embroiled the Florida legislature, the U.S. Congress and President Bush.

I wasn't really aware of this situation back then. But from what I gather, it wasn't any extraordinary measure that he took, was it? That is a serious question by the way.
And if it was an extraordinary measure, why quit now? If he believe in Terri enough then, then why hot now?
I can't believe she is still conscious after 8 days. She is crying. She knows she is being killed

The judge has probably ordered no pain med in order to continue the false 'finding' that she has no brain function. If caregivers saw her respond to pain med, they might begin to realize that her brain is working.
This is similar to refusing her a sliver of the Eucharist on her tongue. She might make a mouthing motion. Horrors we cannot have that, while we "help" her die.
He thinks Bush's numbers are down because he got involved. I think his numbers are down because he didn't get involved ENOUGH.
Happy Easter.
Happy Easter.
I know. Good question. I think we now have officially lost the right if we already hadn't with Roe v. Wade and its bloody aftermath to look down on the Germans of Hitler's day, or to wonder how they could just stand by as the atrocities were committed.

The NAZIS denied Terri Holy Communion on Easter.
I agree. The Christian Conservative base is about 25%-30%. If more or less please correct me.
It's a shame that Mr. Schindler had to become such a jerk about things. Shot himself and his wife in the foot.
I agree with those who say that with all the accusations and venom he's spit at Mr. Schiavo, he's lucky he's been able to visit at all. Mr. Schiavo has been very kind.
How many here want a dictatorship? Why have laws and courts if they are to be ignored?
LOL...Judge Greer PROTECTED Mrs. Schiavo's rights. Your graphic is on its head.
This is what I walk away with. My hope is that I will be loved by my family like Terri is loved by her family (other than her "husband"). What a wonderful display of love they have shown the world. It is selfless, priceless love that endures through the worst circumstances. I wish they were my family members. WOW! Who would care for me that much? Who would I care for that much? They are a testimony to the world about human love. Terri should have not been deprived of nourishment for that reason alone. We need more pure love like that in the world. I wish I could adopt them as my family.
The Constitution provides protection for all citizens, including Mrs. Schiavo. Therefore, she has a right to refuse medical treatment, food, water, etc. She has a right to choose to live and a right to choose to refuse to live. She also has a right to exercise her rights immediately, not delayed by more interference from outsiders. Rights delayed are rights denied.
We also have courts to decide legal matters. Unfortunately, Mrs. Schiavo left things to the courts with little to go on...but many courts have done their best in making determinations based on a heck of a lot more information than the FReepers here. Have any FReepers watched the 4 hours of video? Few, I'm sure.
How many here want a dictatorship? Why have laws and courts if they are to be ignored?
What about denying Terri Holy Communion on Easter. According to the MSNBC website as of 10:00 am that is what they are doing.
Where'd you get this information? There's no group called "Hemlock Society" anymore.
You hit the nail on the head.
