After Defeats Schiavo Parents Tell Supporters Go Home
AP - Yahoo ^ | March 26, 2005 | Jane Sutton

Bob and Mary Schindler, both practicing Catholics, urged dozens of supporters gathered outside the Florida hospice where Schiavo is being cared for to go home for Easter.

"The family would request that everyone go home, be with your children, hold them close and share every moment you have with them," said Brother Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who is a spiritual adviser to the Schindlers.

It was not clear if the Schindlers had finally abandoned all legal avenues in their fight to restart their 41-year-old daughter's feeding, a cause that embroiled the Florida legislature, the U.S. Congress and President Bush.

He's not even worth it, NorCalRepub. He hates the GOP, anyone affiliated with the GOP, and that ain't gonna change.

He wouldn't even be doing this if we conservatives in the GOP had had the foresight to elect one Dr. Alan Keyes into the Oval Office... Then, you see, Dr. Keyes would have ridden in on his stallion, and wisked Terri away to the land of Milk and Honey, where it's sunny all the time, and then he would have placed his hands upon her head and said, "Heal, my child", and yea, she would be healed.

But instead, we got that stinker Bush in the White House...

In his latest ruling on Saturday, Greer said the Schindlers could have presented Weller's affidavit at an emergency hearing three days ago, but did not, and therefore "waived their right to raise Terri Schiavo's alleged verbalization."

I've been saying that Terri's life is being gamed by the courts to put this on legal malpractice. Whittemore has done it as well, and the courts of appeal as well, but the latter is most subtle.

I'm not saying that there's been malpractice -- I'm saying that the courts are blaming the Schindlers lawyers for Terri's impending death. That's passing the buck and history will record it as such.

Despicable behavior by Judge Greer. Courts exist to administer justice, not to pass the buck.

"..but thankfully our nations is still a nation of laws."

Are you willing to say that the dehydration and starvation order laid down for Michael and against Terri is an act of murder made legal?

OR

Are you willing to say that the dehydration and starvation order laid down for Michael and against Terri is lawful and therfore not an act of murder?

Which way is it to be?

Now wanting helpless women to not be done to death by thirst is 'narrow-minded faith', and makes me a 'hater', according to you.

How do you live with yourself?

Yes. Legal, due to bad laws, but morally an act of murder.

I agree with you that all tests should have been ordered but anyone losing a case thinks the judge is an idiot...that's what the losing side always thinks.....if he had ruled to reinstate the tubes, he would be hailed a hero without consideration of any of his other rulings.....that is hypocritical in my book

I wouldn't have hailed him as a hero. I think very reasonable people, from both sides of the political aisle, have questioned both his objective decisions (in not ordering tests) and subjective judgments regarding her wishes.

The control you wish the governor had over the National Guard hasn't existed since before the Civil War.

Source please?

Example of an executive order calling up guard units

Lengthy article about the Florida National Guard

"All of the legal processes and checks and balances have failed if a county can murder(legally or not) someone. That affects the heart and soul of the entire country. Do we put the processes ahead of that."

Best sumery I've read yet, thankx

You may respect Gov. Bush. That is part of Free Will.

According to Florida's Statutes, if Gov. Bush believed Terri was in danger (can we agree she is in danger? Good.) then he and/with the DFC has the authority to go in and get Terri.

He DID NOT do it.

Therefore, he did not do everything he could under the law.

If you wish to say he did everything you may continue to do so.

I know he didn't do what the statutes says he can do because Terri still there, still dying.

And the Florida Statute that authorizes him to take her out of that HellHole is still on the books.

Of course he didn't break the law.

He wouldn't do anything that wasn't legal.

He failed to do everything he could do, legally.

haha......Alan Keyes.....while a very smart man, he is also a bit out there also with even the likes of some right leaning talk show hosts admitting that....well, I guess I tried to be civil to old EV...but I guess that is lost on his sanctimonious attitude......

Sorry, I couldn't resist one parting shot.

Yes. Legal, due to bad laws, but morally an act of murder.

This is where the comparisons to Nazi Germany start getting tossed around. Bad laws, totally legal, morally repulsive. At this point the only difference is one of scope, not the mechanics of legal process.
