Hours after a judge ordered that Terri Schiavo was not to be removed from her hospice, a team of state agents were en route to seize her and have her feeding tube reinserted -- but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge's order, The Herald has learned.
Agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told police in Pinellas Park, the small town where Schiavo lies at Hospice Woodside, on Thursday that they were on the way to take her to a hospital to resume her feeding.
For a brief period, local police, who have officers at the hospice to keep protesters out, prepared for what sources called ``a showdown.''
In the end, the squad from the FDLE and the Department of Children & Families backed down, apparently concerned about confronting local police outside the hospice.
''We told them that unless they had the judge with them when they came, they were not going to get in,'' said a source with the local police.
''The FDLE called to say they were en route to the scene,'' said an official with the city police who requested anonymity. ``When the sheriff's department and our department told them they could not enforce their order, they backed off.''
The incident, known only to a few and related to The Herald by three different sources involved in Thursday's events, underscores the intense emotion and murky legal terrain that the Schiavo case has created. It also shows that agencies answering directly to Gov. Jeb Bush had planned to use a wrinkle in Florida law that would have allowed them to legally get around the judge's order. The exception in the law allows public agencies to freeze a judge's order whenever an agency appeals it.

OT:... French wine! All your posts could be deemed suspect now
Incorrect, in fact OBL had to prove that Americans were not innocents in order to gain the support of Islamic leaders for his war of terror.
How then do you define evil? Or even better how can you define evil if not but accepting the Creator Word as to what is evil?
"Randall Terry is operating on pure emotion now." "Randall Terry should not even be involved in this whole situation."
"If he understood to what degree he is harming Terri's cause, he would surely shut up and sit down"
No, he wouldn't. He needs publicity. Simple Equation: Publicity equals Money. Money is used for the "Good Work" that Randall is doing. I mean, he heads up an organization with a payroll, media outlets, etc, etc.
The end justifies the means, as long as it's Good Work, right?
That is the best way I have heard this situation discribed. The sad part about it is, that it is becomming a feeding frenzy for the media. None of us know what the real situation is, there are way too many uninformed experts out there.
breaker breaker good buddy, ......we have us a religious convoy........
Wait, M'siuer! This stuff is distributed in America and besides, there was a sale at Sam's.
Thanks for weighing in. Now, since you've been in Florida all of a few days, I see you've become quite the expert on everything related to Florida law... I havn't lived in Florida in well over 15 years, so I don't know the current status of articles of Florida's Constitution, and how they've been interpreted and ruled on, and what laws have been based on it since then.
So, New Florida Expert, dazzle me.
Thanks for the additional comments. IMO Judge Greer has a God complex. Sadly, it appears he's actually residing on the other end of the spectrum. I cannot condone what he and the other courts have done.
If this murder was that necessary, the courts should have demanded a full spectrum of tests to prove Terry was brain dead. If she wasn't, then it should have refused to kill her.
The courts are obviously going to get their way. Terry is nothing more than a speed bump on the journey to their omnipotence.
Good night.
We are gonna put the HAMMER down....
De Jordan Ribber is muddy an' wide, Hallejuah! Of course, we need to cross the toll bridge to get to the other side, Hallejuah!
Man, I hope I didn't pi$$ him/her off in my earlier posts, then.
There was a time, not too long ago when Christianity could have been rightly added to the list of belief systems that condoned the murder of innocents...
Thankfully, for most of us Christians of today, that's history...
Anyone who knows God can and must speak of His word.
no....I am correct here.......what do you think AQ is doing in Iraq right now......or blowing up restaurants, embasseys etc all over the world.....those are innocents and they are not Americans......evil is defined in the bible.....yes indeedy.....but it is how you translate it I guess, last time I looked, Terri or Jeb Bush was not listed in the bible or it may have been written in one of the books that didn't make it in........
Quick, which is more important: The Bible or the Constitution of the United States? Take your time, but try to put it in a way that Atheists, Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus can understand.
Just heard this on the radio
"Judges are only lawyers in dresses".
Lawyers consistently poll as the most distrusted profession.Yet everybody seems to be willing to leave last word on Constitution laws, civil rights to a few"lawyers in dresses."
Whew! That's a relief.
