Thanks I needed this for some that say "let her die" because all they hear is abcnbcbscnnmsnbcnytimes, and those sources are soooo credible.
"Under Florida law, a feeding tube is considered a life-support device on par with a respirator."
This statement jumped out at me, since I had just yesterday real this article on the perversion of the terminology in the euthanasia issue by its advocates.........
http://www.internationaltaskforce.org/fctwww.htm
a short snip:
Euthanasia proponents have learned a lot about public relations in the six decades since the Euthanasia Society of America made that first attempt to gain legislative approval for mercy killing. One lesson they have heeded is that all social engineering is preceded by verbal engineering. If words or their meaning can be changed, the quest to change hearts and minds will be achieved.
Today when mercy killing is discussed, it is couched in euphemisms -- words of gentleness or the language of rights. Titles of euthanasia advocacy groups contain words like "compassion," "choice," and "dignity." Even the Euthanasia Society of American has undergone name changes to present a more positive image. (In l976 the Euthanasia Society of America changed its name to the Society for the Right to Die and, in l991, it became known as Choice in Dying.)
Very interesting read on the timeline of Terri's 'injury'.
This is entire story is starting to sound like something one would expect from Alfred Hitchcock or Edgar Allen Poe.
Wow. Gov. Bush needs to send in the National Guard.
This whole story tears at my soul. I have a 15 year old nephew who suffered severe brain damage at age 4 after falling into a pond, drowning and then being resuscitated 11 years ago. He has been on a feeding tube ever since and has very limited responsiveness much as Terri shows. the big difference in my nephews case relative to Terri's situation is that he's been lovingly and relentlessly cared for by my sister and the home nurses she's hired.
Just in the last six months he was started on some ground breaking hyperbaric therapy in which the patient is pressurized for 1 hour periods of time and given almost 100% pure oxygen. Since he's started this new therapy, (done by a docter in Jacksonville, FL by the way)he's begun to laugh at the appropriate time when watching videos, is trying to ennunciate words, smiles and giggles when my sister tickles him, moves his arms and shows other physical activity that has been totally absent for 11 long years. The physician treating my nephew tells my sister that she's very hopefully given my nephew's progress that he'll get to a point where the feeding tube can be removed and he'll be able to lead a more normal life.
Who's to say that Terri couldn't show these same improvements if her murderous husband had simply allowed the current and cutting edge therapies to be tried on Terri.
I ache for this poor woman.

[ex-girlfriend]-"Cindy Shook gave a deposition to the Schindlers in April 2001, in which she stated that when she asked Michael Schiavo about treatment for Terri he responded, "How the hell should I know?We never spoke about this. My God, I was only 25 years old. How the hell should I know? We were young. We never spoke of this."

This lawyer is totally "jumping the shark", IMHO. He is coming off as totally insensitive to the plight of Terri and her family.
Judge Bork on Fox News. There has not been an adequate investigation of the facts.
When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep. But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child's father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!" ). Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
