Good for Bobby.
He may be a loony-tune, but I'm rooting for him.

I didn't think he was allowed to castle when he was already in Check.

I have mixed feelings. I keep thinking of what he might've been, and it saddens me.
To: Alberta's Child
He's as anti-American as Ward Churchill - but without the charming personality and sense of personal honor.

http://www.rense.com/general17/chessgrandmaster.htm Bobby Fischer, the reclusive American chess grandmaster, has broken years of silence to support the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.
The Telegraph has discovered that Mr Fischer gave an interview to an obscure radio station in the Philippines hours after the events on September 11.
Mr Fischer is already wanted for questioning by the FBI for breaking UN sanctions by taking part in a chess match in Serbia against Boris Spassky in 1992 - his first for 20 years.
In his interview on September 11 with Radio Bombo in Baguio City, Mr Fischer said: "This is all wonderful news. It is time to finish off the US once and for all.
"I was happy and could not believe what was happening. All the crimes the US has committed in the world. This just shows, what goes around comes around, even to the US.
"I applaud the act. The US and Israel have been slaughtering the Palestinians for years. Now it is coming back at the US."

I thought he was moving to Israel . . .

Fischer is completely gone. Nuts. Insane. Here is just one message from his anti-Semitic website :
It's business as usual for the Jewish liar, embezzler and thief Bob Ellsworth. For this hardened, heartless Jewish criminal robbing all of Bobby Fischer's belongings in storage was a"piece of cake." Like taking candy from a baby. Hardly worth losing any sleep over. As a Jew he is convinced of the superiority of his"race" and even more importantly he knows that the fix is on and that the police won't touch him!

Notice he's not going to the Czech Republic...or to Australia. *sigh*

He may be a loony-tune, but I'm rooting for him. He's a high-profile fugitive. I hope we have an extradition treaty with Iceland.

Still, it is absolutely idiotic for the U.S. government to prosecute him for violating some kind of stupid "economic sanctions" against Yugoslavia back in 1992.

Fischer, an enemy of America, who celebrates 9-11, deserves a jail cell, not a cozy little life on an Icelandic government stipend.

He's a high-profile fugitive. So was Marc Rich. If he can get a pardon, then Bobby Fischer can do whatever the hell he damn well pleases.

That completely changes my opinion about him. May he rot in hell for using an existing grudge against the government of the U.S. to justify the slaughter of innocent Americans on 9/11.
To: Alberta's Child
Say it isn't so, the government doing something stupid. That is new.

I don't recall Marc Rich glorifying and justifying the terrorist attacks on the U.S. Yes, Marc Rich was a tax cheat, but at least he knows when to keep his mouth shut. Anyone choosing to justify the attacks on 9/11 deserves to be condemned.
To: WBurgVACon
Anyone choosing to justify the attacks on 9/11 deserves to be condemned. Sure. But that doesn't mean the U.S. government is justified in prosecuting him for a stupid "crime" that has nothing to do with his 9/11 comments.

You really want us to prosecute this guy for playing chess?
