"The whole purpose of soccer or sports is to have these kids learn to control their tempers under adversity, and we're going to cut that out?'' said veteran league referee Jan Leja. "What's the use of having sports?''

This ref has it right, as the above post indicates, if bad sportmanship is happening, cancel the games and the season until the teams and coaches can teach the right way to play sport. And the right way includes good sportsmanship after the game. Man I hate what the lef wing is doing in the SF Bay Area.

It would seem that the purpose is to create a, ignorant, emotionally unstable, and violent generation of incredibly spoiled kids. Such are easy for advertising and media to manipulate.

With regard to teaching children sportsmanship, I believe it was the tennis player Bjorn Borg who recounted that, as a child, he had a terrible temper and would slam his racket and carry on whenever things didn't go his way. His parents took away his tennis racket and told him he could play again when he demonstrated some sportsmanship. That solved the problem in a hurry.
