Tonight it is, March 22, 2005, over five days since Theresa Marie Schiavo commenced her ordeal of purposeful and legally sanctioned dehydration and starvation. We await a decision from the three judge panel from Eleventh Judicial Circuit as to her fate, as her family struggles with seeing Terri's physical health deteriorate.

Why is she on public assistance? She is half owner of a really nice house, expensive cars and has money.

Can someone claim that they would want to live like Terri is now?

I'd much rather be doted over by loving parents, taken out in the sunshine and fresh air, be bothered now and again by a nosy feline, and receive therapy so I could talk somewhat intelligibly, move myself via motorized wheelchair, etc. then be locked in a dark room by a man person was dumb enough to marry who is openly mad that I'm not dying like I'm supposed to.

But surely you don't agree that they represent conservatives and Republicans. The Republicans tried to save her life. Greer, Michael and Jodi represent Republicans about as much as Zell Miller represents Democrats. There are always exceptions.

The problem now is that the Republicans, namely Governor Bush, is playing by the rules against liars, cheaters, and thieves.

Desperate times require desperate measures. It is time to send in state troopers or federal marshals or whatever it takes to save her life. It may cost someone politically but it will be worth it. I wouldn't want this on my conscience if I had the power to act and took no action to save her life.

This is a nightmare.

(Side note: Is it true that she can't have an MRI because of the experimental tests that were done in CA?

It's my understanding that the electrodes implanted in her head for brain stimulation, are still in place. You might want to ping FL_Engineer for documentation on that.

"Whoever wants to boycott Florida can go right ahead if it makes them feel better, but it seems awfully misguided and ineffectual to me."

I agree, and besides there is no time for a boycott.

It's shocking the state of our media.

Someone I know reported on a friend of hers who is a Russian immigrant, who was horrified at the state of our media, said it was equal to, if not worse than, that in Russia.

If we can't rein in the media, and these judges, we've got some troubles ahead.

"Our God is an awesome God, he reigns from heaven above, with wisdom, power and love, our God is an awesome God.

Thank you Rich Mullins for an awesome song. It just popped into my head just now and I thought I'd sing it to all of you. :)

Yes, Our God is a "Awesome God"........I also think of the Hymn " Tis so sweet to Trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His Word. Just to rest upon His promise, Just to know" Thus Saith The Lord"..........

Based on her knowledge of Terri's medical condition, will she make it till tomorrow>

I am afraid that she may not make it or if she does and they do what IS right, the damage may not be able to be undone.

I think it's as selfish as suicide. A person has put their loved ones in a situation that can be cruel to watch. If someone is at the end of their life and dying, and their body can no longer tolerate food, that's a different situation. Dehydration is a cruel and inhumane death. Think of a rose slowly drying out from lack of water. Picture watching a loved ones eyes and lips doing the same thing. NOT a nice death.

I would much rather be alive than dead before my time! You've never been bedridden have you? It's a humbling experience to be sure, but that doesn't mean it's unbearable! Terri has a family who loves her and who she loves. You can see when they speak of each other what a loving family they are. I cannot imagine that Terri would want them to be hurt like this.

The Attorney from hell claimed there was perhaps $55,000 left in her trust, so she was placed on Medicaid in 2003. One of our FReepers found that the house is in the name of the lovely and gracious Miss Jodi ... and who knows about the cars: 2 Mercedes, one silver and one black. The husband from hell travels about in the silver one.

... I really believe that God is calling us to band together as His soldiers and if we are doing it and Terri is still among us, even better, but if the unthinkable should happen (and believe me, I hate to even think of that) we cannot let Terri's plight go down in vain...

bump...

What is the percentage of doctors who think she could be rehabilitated and to what degree given that 2/3 of her cerebral cortex (?) is non-recoverable? I was looking over the case history and at one point it looked like the Schindlers were allowed to pick 2 doctors to examine Terri, Michael was allowed to pick 2 doctors, and the court picked 1 doctor. They didn't come to the conclusion that this one doctor has.

Personally, I'd want to check all of their credentials. If I'm ever in a situation where I have one world-renowned doctor telling me one thing and 200 mediocre doctors telling me another, I will not leave the decision up to "majority rules."
