But they won't kill someone like Stephen Hawkins or Christopher Reeves ... fellow liberals.

Terri's case involves great faith and hope on the part of her Parents, and all of us who are praying for her. Praying for a miracle. The left will not allow even the opportunity for that miracle.

You can't compare this to Hawkins....that just makes you seem extreme yourself. He's a Noble Prize winner that can communicate effectivly enough to write at the highest levels, he has no brain damage, rather his is probly to big!!!

Prayer may well be a very good idea. It may be far more effective than rants on Free Republic. Although I don't share your belief in any deities, I encourage you to pray, since that is your belief.

It's becoming clear that this is a classic case of a horrendous conflict between LEGALITY & MORALITY.
LEGALITY places custodial rights for the wife with her husband; while MORALITY says her parents should take care of her. Judges FEAR tackling this moral question because it requires the wisdom of SOLOMON, and they're just mechanical clerks who just follow procedures. The don't want to go down this road because for precedence sake, how do you determine who loves the victim MOST? Especially if there's $$?
To furthur complicate this case there might be a pile of $$ at stake with custodial rights, which everyone denies being interested in.

Terri's quality of life could have been improved had her guardian afforded the opportunity for proper care and rehab/therapy. I'm still not giving up. Terri is NOT DEAD YET.

The HINO wouldn't even allow the shades to be open in Terri's room. He wanted her to die with dignity you see!

Time for the federal marshals to remove this poor woman from that Death "Hospice" to a place of safety. Eisenhower did it to desegregate schools, it's time for exercise of executive power again. "How many divisions have the courts" and Michael Schiavo - ultimately none. And I don't believe Jeb would send the state police to fight his brother's feds.

Dick Sobsey has done some research on this, as it relates to filicide.

So-called mercy killings, in which the altruistic reason is related to an illness, injury, or disability, make up only about 3% of child homicides (Richards, 2000), but experts in criminal psychology suggest that these cases hide a deeper and darker motivation. According to criminology's most authoritative classification of homicides, "most often, the real motivation for mercy killing has little to do with the offender's feelings of compassion and pity for the victim" (Douglas, Burgess, Burgess, & Ressler, 1992, p. 111). The authors, FBI profilers and criminologists, consider the deeper motivation for mercy killing to be a pathological need for "power and control" (p. 111). Acts of violence typically require two factors. First, there is an instrumental motivation, such as control or desire to be free of responsibility for a child. Second, there must be a disinhibiting factor, such as the belief that it is for the child's good, to release potentially homicidal parents from normal inhibition (Sobsey, 1994). The social endorsement of mercy killing therefore acts as a disinhibiting factor to those who may have instrumental motivations, but might otherwise be restrained by inhibition.

And you are correct, that this has been framed as a right to die case when it is indeed a "mercy" killing.

It's disgraceful. The question now becomes, what is Congress going to do to enforce the law passed at this point and the contempt of Judge Greer and the Federal judge? If they are not held to account, from this point on, Congress could be deemed as weak and powerless against the judiciary.

The confusing thing is what actually IS constitutional and what isn't. Both sides claim to be correct in this matter. I wish I had the answer.

Oh well, if he'd won the Nobel prize, then he'd have been in the good company of those great statesmen Arafat and Jimmy Carter. LOL

"The judge was supposed to order Terris' feeding tube replaced while he reviewed her case.....but oooops....Clinton judge ignored them just like Judge Greer and the Floriduh Supremes did.

It's been an eye opener for sure. Congressional subpoenas were laughed at. Felos, attorney of Michael, called them bogus."

ALL THE MORE REASON FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND/OR THE PRESIDENT TO STEP IN AND ENFORCE THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

NOW!!!

WHAT WE ARE WITNESSING TODAY IS THE OVERTHROW OF THE UNITED STATES BY A GROUP OF BLACK ROBED TYRANTS.

If you would investigate the documents of the congressman who nominated Dr. Hammesfahr for the work he has done in these types of patients - you would know.

A Florida State judge reviewed the accusations and evidence and ruled that Dr. Hammesfahr was not guilty of quackery - But - instead praise the work he was doing.

Medicare approved of his methods (they must have done some reviewing of his claims in order to allow him to work with them) - the State of Florida has still not closed him down - They must have reviewed him and allowed him to Continue practicing medicine!

Some people - in spite of evidence - will continue on their opinion -

Here is some information on what was found by the first doctors who examined Terri. It is their observations that make this case so chilling - aparently - Judge Greer overlooked these medical findings in making his decisions about Terri.

Date Source Description

2/25/1990 Terri's Injury

2/25/1990 X-Ray Report Dr. Hameroff

Images taken of cervical spine, no acute bony pathology - straightening of normal cervical lordosis

2/25/1990 Neuro Consult Dr. DeSousa

Deeply comatose. No evidence of acute process in CT scan. Evidence of myoclonic seizures.

Rule out acute myocardiac infarction, seizures as cause.

Neck is somewhat stiff as is all of the muscles of the body. No jugular venous distension.

WBC 26,300, drug screen negative

(To those that say she was using drugs for her "bulimia" -it says that she was clear.

And to those that say she had a heart attack - it says there was NO myocardiac infarction - an interruption in the supply of blood to the heart, usually as a result of occlusion of a coronary artery. An occlusion IS a heart attack!)

He swore in Court that the basis for his contention that he is a "Nobel Prize nominee" is that Congressman Mike Bilirakis - who is neither a doctor nor a scientist - sent a letter to the Nobel committee recommending him for an award.

He didn't "fake" his nomination - he never got a real nomination. He just claims he is a "nominee" based upon this letter being sent.

Two hundred years from now when historians analyze the decline of the US they'll be puzzled. Why did the population decide to make laws to protect murderers, but prosecute doctors who help terminally ill patients out of their pain and put disabled persons to death by cruel means? Years from now they will not understand our legal system. Today who still has respect for it?

We do, sometimes, withhold treatement under certain circumstances.

Providing food and water is not "treatment". Witholding food and water, in any case, is passive euthanasia, which is unethical.

"end of life"

Terri is not at the "end of her life" - not by a long shot.

So I think that comparison has a little flaw!

So you're sort of an F. Lee Bailey meets Pontius Pilate kind of guy.
I guess I'm more of a results-oriented person.
The outcome to me is more important than the process.
I wouldn't care if a big stork came down and swept her away from MRS, Felos and Schiavo.
Especially if that big stork was a C-130 taking her to a place where she would be protected from these killers and their dispassionate supporters.
