I think the reason the USA and FL has so many arrogant judges is one of money. Judges earn less money that top-flight attorneys in private practice. They resent the lack of financial rewards as a judge; so they compensate by coveting and expanding their judicial power. They also promote their lucrative retirement systems. The public cannot understand.

"If you think that the Pope will be maintained on artificial life support once it is clear that he cannot recover, you're mistaken."

Anyone whose tagline is "godless atheist" is not exactly an expert on Vatican protocols.

take my word said sadist Greer,I believed them.

You are slipping. You have now used the same unjustified adjective for Judge Greer in two consecutive posts. Did you spill your coffee on your thesaurus?

Do you think the Schindlers will continue to live in FL?

The abolition of slavery was not going to be accomplished through the application of laws. It took a war. It always takes a war to defeat evil. Another war is coming.
And the only good thing about it is the judges don't have an army.

It is the next of kin who decides.

Do you have a citation for that proposition? Because my understanding is that the PATIENT decides, and where the patient is unable to express direction, then the court looks for other evidence of the PATIENT's wishes, and when there is insufficient evidence to terminate the life, the default position is to maintain it.

Oh, that doesn't necessarily follow, at all. I've been a student of Vatican politics for years. Anyone who thinks the Pope is going to be on a respirator more than briefly is dreaming.

Of course, you'll never know. One day, there will simply be an announcement that the Pope is dead and the conclave is being summoned.

Don't mistake atheism with ignorance. Most atheists are students of religion.

The nurse who gave a sworn affidavit (which Judge Greer ruled NOT CREDIBLE) had stated that she suspected Michael tried to OD Terri on insulin, back when that nurse was working for the Hospice).

She added this to the info today. "She also saw a vial of "insulin concealed in the trash bin." "

If you think the anatomical condition of her brain is all-important, why not let doctors use some modern techniques to see exactly what condition her brain is in?

I'm sure that Michael makes sure his childrens' doctors are using the latest equipment on them.

Wrong. Find a reference for that.

Just because you think it should nullify it, doesn't make it so legally or in Gods eyes. Adultery is GROUNDS for legal divorce, but it does not automatically MAKE you divorced. Ask ANY priest, pastor or minister you want. It just isn't so.

Why was she not called to testify at the trial? The Schindlers were well aware of her allegations.

Damn pesky facts keep getting in the way of your conspiracy theory....

WC: It should be apparent that the parents had the same interest [in Terri's trust fund] as the husband

S: I disagree. Michael Schiavo's lawyer, George Felos, has said on TV that Terri's money is all gone.

So no one can be after her money any longer and both conflicts of interest (that of the husband and the parents) are now solved? Who said things couldn't get any better?

It depends where you are. In most states, the next of kin can cancel life support after consultation with the physician. It happens every day. A young person is in a car accident and is brain dead. Parents have to make a decision about maintaining their body in a lifelike state. Most decide to let the son or daughter die and remove the life support.

Same with parents. Every day, in hospitals all over this country, children make decisions about life support for their parents, whether there's a living will or not.

Surely you know this.

Any 'money to be made in death' is dwarfed by the money to be made by keeping people alive against their wishes.

So, it really depends on your POINT OF VIEW.

If you are the HOSPICE you keep them alive until their MEDICAID/MEDICARE runs out.

If you are their inheritors, you want them to go quickly before all the money is given to those who provide their 'care'.

If you are a lawyer, you don't care live/die, but what your client is paying you to do.

Unless you have an agenda. Like FELOS.

No, actually, it's not. There's not going to be any war over this issue. It is simply not going to happen.
