Yes they do. Sad because this one for Terri is in such PLAIN languange, someone with an IQ of 10 could have interpreted it.

Too bad Whittemore is a 9.5.

My ire is not directed at you. It's directed at the situation.

Nor did I state you weren't praying for her life.

I just tried to call some of these poor Senators that we elected reguarding the Terry Schiavo case. The phone rang a good thirty times, and then the office of Burt Saunders answered and slammed the phone down on me. I guess that means they are tired of getting phone calls.

"But we don't have to wait for the positive laws to be in agreement with natural law in order to be justified in violating positive law that is contrary to natural law."

OK, I have no problem with that. Many have violated laws in good conscience and have been willing to face whatever punishment goes along with that. It's called civil disobedience.

So far, I have seen nobody do this, other than the abortive attempt by Bo Gritz the other day. Who do you suggest should engage in this civil disobedience? Yourself? Others?

I've engaged in civil disobedience myself, and was willing to pay the consequences. Luckily, I did not have to do that, but I was willing to.

Civil disobedience is a powerful tool, but someone has to be willing to bite the bullet, so to speak. Given the low numbers of protestors at the hospice, I don't see anything dramatic happening.

Keep in mind that any such act would require someone capable of re-inserting the surgically-implanted feeding tube. That means you'd need a surgeon on the team. Otherwise, Terri would just die somewhere else.

I don't see that happening.

Convienient of you to ignore the facts presented by the doctors, including the treating physician.

I thought they all watched the Quinlan movie together. Probably just read it on here. Now I really don't believe that Terri went around talking only to Michael's family one at a time that she would not want to live "like that" and told her friends something different. I really thought she made some off-hand remark while watching a movie with Michael his brother and his wife which was what they testified to and then was years later accepted as evidence of her wishes. If you are correct, I find it much less believable that she ever even remarked on it.

Bottom line may be that the parent's lawyer wasn't that great, and look whom he was up against. The parent's needed a shark PETA lawyer!

"It's also quite detailed. As a writer and a former college English teacher, I know how hard it can be to produce that much documented text that quickly."

Yes, and legal documents are even more complex and require very precise language. The court will have numerous people working on this decision. It all takes time. My guess is that the Federal Judge from yesterday was up all night preparing the 11-page decision.

Again, an injunction or restraining order is pretty quick to prepare. If one is to be issued, it will appear later today. If it does not, I doubt that one will be forthcoming.

The fact that you had not heard about it does not change the finding.
There are many things you have not heard about all around the world yet they still are occurring and are factual. A finding of fact by the sadist judge Greer(who deprives Terri of having her teeth brushed)is not necessary to make something factual.
By the way I find it interesting how you love to post his factual findings, but yet you seem strangely silent at posting his various orders,as to denial of leaving the room, getting therapy, receiving antibiotics for infections, denial of brushing of teeth.

"Convienient of you to ignore the facts presented by the doctors, including the treating physician."

Not facts, but medical OPINIONS. Opinion is not fact. Therefore, what the doctors testified to may or may not be true. That is why second, third, and even tenth opinions are often sought in medical cases.

They probably are, but if Terri dies, they will suffer the wrath and disgust of their fellow Americans.

Florida will suffer big time.

God help her and us helping her.

If opinion is not fact, Terri's alleged opinion on not wanting to be on life support is not a fact and therefore, moot.

No, facts based upon observations and tests....which then form the basis for an opinion.

The doctors who examined her and used the rational about sustained acuity and tracking, DECLINED TO MENTION THAT DUE TO Terri's injuries, she is partially BLIND.

Maybe that would explain her INABILITY to track objects part of the time. Her NON REACTION to some people (that plus she looks away from people she has learned not to trust)

Oh, I forgot, she is braindead and can't LOOK AT SOME PEOPLE and TURN AWAY FROM OTHERS : )

"Bottom line may be that the parent's lawyer wasn't that great"

Entirely possible. I don't know whether he was competent or not. He's sure been at it awhile, though. Why was he not replaced if he's incompetent?
