MONTPELIER, Vt. The woman who managed U-S Senator Patrick Leahy's re-election campaign last year has been hired to organize the re-election campaign of independent U-S Senator Jim Jeffords.
Carolyn Dwyer has been hired as a consultant to the Jeffords campaign with the task of getting things prepared for next year's bid.
Dwyer served as Leahy's campaign manager last year and helped run his 1998 campaign. She also worked on Howard Dean's presidential bid as well as the Clinton-Gore campaign in 1996.
The hiring of Dwyer comes on the heels of recent endorsements of Jeffords by Leahy and Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean as well as independent Congressman Bernie Sanders.
It will be Jeffords' first elective bid since leaving the Republican Party in 2001.

Sorry to report, but Jeffords will be reelected without a problem here in Vermont. Beautiful state, hateful politics. I'm here living the real deal.

So why doesn't he just make it official and switch to Democrat?

So why doesn't he just make it official and switch to Democrat? I don't think its radical enough.

Are there no civic minded Democrats in VT? There should be a Democrat on the ballot.

He is worse than Leahy himself. God I hate it up here. It is pretty up here, but the politics are "weird".

Well, lets root on a strong dem nominee as well as a palatable (to VT) GOPer and see who wins a 3-way race.

Sorry for the Senatorial abuse you suffer in your state. We had John Edwards for six years. Fortunately, Edwards has disappeared, unlike Jeffords.
It says a lot about Jeffords' real politics that he has hired an operative for "Leaky" Leahy to manage his campaign.

Thanks, Congressman Billybob. I guess our our own personal predictions are as good as anyone. I'm only hoping for the best for America. God love this country. :)

Frankly, I don't know why he is wasting the money. There aren't enough GOP voters up there to swing it anyways. He could literally take a vacation until next December and he would still win. His only fear is a Democratic primary challenger.

Is there any chance the Dems will actually nominate someone, or will they just endorse Jeffords? And it seems to me it's been a long time since VT was a conservative state -- you'd have to go back to the 1930s. They have a long history of RINOs like George Aiken and Winton Prouty and Bob Stafford and, of course, Jeffords himself. But I do agree, it's a beautiful state. I love Plymouth Notch, home of Calvin Coolidge, which should be on every Freeper's must-see list.

I have not. My gut feel is that Jumpin' Jim will get a pass from the people here. Sad to say.
I hope the people of this state stand up and say no. But, from everything I've experienced, it ain't happening.

Yep hate to say it, but it's true. Jumpin Jim is a hero up here, you still see the stupid "Thanks Jim" bumper stickers. From the pitiful birkenstock-wearing freaks of some forgotten time, to the masses of transplanted SUV driving liberals who think they are just so smart.... this State is pretty much hopeless for the foreseeable future.
