You know at one time Christians actually believed and acted on in deferring any artificial means, including feeding tubes, to sustain life for their loved ones.

I don't know where you got that. If that were the case you would have to clear out about half of the nursing homes, assisted living homes, etc. Feeding someone is NOT sustaining life by "artificial means".

I don't know, but he better grow a couple and do something, because Terri is NOW dying. I can't eat dinner because of this. Every time I try I think of her not having anything.

I do not doubt that there are some good hospices run by good people, but I also suspect strongly that there are many that are set up with evil financial motives--even (or in some cases especially!) the "non-profits".

Our is a "non-profit" and I can assure you that it is run honestly and openly. We have it audited by the government just like EVERY hospice is suppose to do. I have given not only financially, but my time and most of all my heart. We have NEVER had ONE complaint. Not one!

They said they are working on something with the FL legislature for Terri...Mr. Schindler said this...and sounded confident...remember though WE aren't hearing anything and aren't seeing Jeb doing anything, that is just because it isn't being reported in the MSM...but they are working on it...so those of you thinking GWB and Jeb are just sitting there thinking they did what they could...you don't know what they are doing...look how long it took congress to get things together...I am sure they are trying their hardest...lets just keep the faith...the Schindlers seem to be doing that...and they are RIGHT there...

We aren't spooked by the scientologists. There were dozens of people at Hospice Woodside tonight and more are expected tomorrow. I had no room to walk around it was so crowded tonight. I stayed around the media side because the Hospice side has a ditch in the middle of the grass and I always seem to trip into it.

It was quite crowded tonight and today.

For one thing I was in touch with Pat Anderson's husband by email and he said they are helping.

Wesley Smith, Bob Marshall, and more are in this, all on the side of the culture of life.

This is an epic battle taking place. We are only seeing the tip of it.

Sorry but I've been speaking with my family on this issue. My father is a pastor (conservative Southern Baptist) and even he believes that this has just gone too far. To tell the truth I was shocked when he weighed in on that side of the issue. But his stance made sense. There's a time when we have to allow God's Will to be done, no matter how much we might not like it. Does God's Will including allowing someone to die, even with some pain involved? Or does God's Will include keeping someone alive even past the point that it's reasonably feasible they may no longer even be there? I don't know and I'm not going to question. Do I personally want this woman to die? No. But I also know you can take any point to an extreme. I hold the highest sanctity for life. But I also hold a respect for God and know if it's her time to go, He will allow it. As a Christian, my view is it's not our place to continue to hold onto a life when we know full well that person is no longer there. I just don't believe the anecdotal evidence that her parents have reported. I think it's a family wanting to hold on so much it hurts. The report to Jeb Bush states clearly the family would want this woman kept alive even if they knew she had a living will, that they would act against her wishes to keep her alive.

But that's my two cents. And I know I wouldn't want to make this decision because I can see Biblical principles on both sides and both sides of the family hurting in their own way

I had an online friend dying of brain cancer. She was in hospice. Whenever she was "down" or uncommunicative, the nurses would call her friends till they found someone to come and chat. It always worked. When they got calls from her friends, they always shared what she needed and how she was doing. They were great. It was not a hushed, stuffy place.
