This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.
"tender decisions"? Mmmkay...
Don't mis-understand. I am receptive to real changes of heart. Until and if that time occurs, however, the impressions being formed right now on this issue will remain constant.
The Democrats forced the debate. Initially they could've just voted and skipped the grandstanding, but that's not something they're ever likely to do.
-Everything- should be done over, from square one.
All tests, all doctors, everything.
I can't help but wonder what God is thinking tonight....:(
"This debate is surreal. It really is unfathomable that there are people arguing on the House floor that an innocent woman should be starved and dehydrated to death."
I wonder what other countries around the world think of the US through this case? How can we be taken seriously when we punish others for acts against life? This is a very very sad day for us as a country.
"The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in time of great moral crisis."
Dante
There are several reasons.
This would help to establish a sanctity of life in law.The dems prefer a arbitrary quality of life standard that stays in line with their humanist/socialist agenda.
By establishing a sanctity of life they fear an undermining of the abortion industry.
Given that they have done poorly in elections and the SCOTUS,while not perfectly conservative, gives them much less than they want and became used to under Warren and Burger. As such they have come to depend on state and appellate courts to advance their agenda. That is why the panic over President Bushes nominees. This bill may set a precedent that an act of congress can supersede an action by a lower court, further cutting away their ability to advance their lib beliefs.
Lastly they have been looking to undermine and abolish the values and beliefs that this country was built on since they became enamored with Marxism in the 1920s.They wish to substitute these values with those in keeping with collectivism and away from our heritage of unique individuality, responsibility and independence.By reducing the sanctity of life to a cheaper level it furthers their agenda of uniformity and subservience to government.
Cannot believe what I am watching -- they are so angry because Republicans want an innocent woman to live.
Republicans have articulate speakers and the Party of Death have speakers that screech because someone might live.
Didn't catch that...tuned into Drudge now.
I can't help but wonder what God is thinking tonight....:(
I can assure you that God is weeping...
Now he is opining that he had dinner with folks who, just today, had removed a feeding tube.
HAHAHAHA!
Well, Judgement Day must be just around the corner when leftist Democrats discover states' rights and inveigh against the federal courts telling states what to do. For crying out loud, that's all the federal courts have been doing for the past 30 years. Read Mark Levin's book on the federal courts legislating from the bench on everything from abortion to the display of the Ten Commandments on the lawn of the Texas capital. Only when Republicans are trying to save the life of a disabled woman, whose poor father was on CNN tonight saying his daughter's teeth are rotting out because that worm of a "husband" won't allow her to get any dental work, do the members of the Democrat Death Party discover the sanctity of states' rights. What disgusting hypocrits! Shame on the people in Florida who voted for Wexler and that witch Wasserman.
Hear you.
You are doing fine. I feel the same way. I keep feeling that everything I send is to no avail.
Anyone know if C-Span is carrying live coverage online? If so, have a link? I've been overruled about what we will watch this hour. Not too happy about it either.
These democrats are making fools of themselves.
Was told there is no such memo from Republicans. If there is one, bet it has Party of Death fingerprints on it!
Does it seem odd that so many dems claim to have had to remove feeding tubes from loved ones? This New Jersey dude is insultingly pompous
Yep, the dems will go to any length to get the 'floor', even if they have to kill.
