Mother pleads for Terri Schiavo's life
MITCH STACY
Associated Press
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Hanging their hopes on a last-minute compromise in Congress, Terri Schiavo's parents notified her hospice to prepare to have her feeding tube reinserted on Sunday, her third day without food or water.
Congressional leaders from both parties hoped an agreement reached on a bill would allow the tube to be restored while federal courts review her case. The House and Senate were expected to take up the legislation by Sunday or early Monday. If passed, President Bush planned to sign it.

But Mary Schindler pleaded for parents nationwide to call their congressional representatives and pressure them to vote for a bill to prolong her daughter's life.
"There are some congressmen that are trying to stop this bill," she said outside her daughter's hospice. "Please don't use my daughter's suffering for your own personal agenda."

Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., issued a statement late Saturday saying he will make an objection that would stop the vote Sunday. Any member can demand that a majority of members be present to do business. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., said he was trying to gather enough votes to defeat the bill Monday

Congressman Blumenauer Fights to End the Torture Policy
As a member of the House International Relations Committee, Congressman Blumenauer has been actively working to end the torture of detainees in American custody, whether by CIA officials, military personnel, or after being transferred to foreign governments. He has been pushing for Congress to investigate those responsible and hold them accountable. He also offered an amendment during House consideration of the 2005 supplemental appropriations bill, along with Congressman Ed Markey (D-Mass.), to prohibit the use of funds for torture of detainees or for transferring detainees to other countries where they are likely to be tortured. The amendment passed overwhelmingly, by a vote of 420-2.
You made me waste a whole mouth full of Coke. The good old fashioned kind, from a glass bottle. But it was worth it. Now if I can just sop it up out of the keyboard...
I like your train of thought. I'll be watching west too.
I have tried to trace mine back. I get further on my fathers, mother's side. Not much on his fathers side. My father's, grandmother was in Nauvoo.
You're overlooking the fact that the power to order the torture death of an innocent woman is not a State right. Protecting the Constitutional rights of citizens is not the same thing as interfering with States' rights.
I emailed Greg Jarrett but he will probably IGNORE it. Clueless bunch of people.
I am not going to dignify you with an answer except to say, I would love to see the whole sequence of the video. Like I have been trying to say, I am concerned with the implications of this law if it should pass. That is all. In all my years on this forum, I have never seen the name calling so vile as I have seen here today. I may disagree with you and you with me, but there is no call for this. I have been called a murderer of my son for cryin out loud. What is with you people?
How true!
If Congress could only be as truthfully honest, they would be saying the same.
If I were even reasonably convinced that she had expressed those wishes I would not favor Congressional intervention.
"Eleanor Clift just lied about Terri Schiavo on Fox News. She said that Terri couldn't BREATHE on her own! She should get her facts straight BEFORE she becomes an "expert" on this. She also said that Terri was TRYING TO DIE!
I'm so sick of these LIARS telling people things that aren't true!"
I know! I was so surprised when no one corrected her. I feel sick from the anger I am feeling
Michael Schaivo has suspended all visitation rights to Terry's Family
They are NOT allowed to visit her
DID YOU ALL JUST HEAR THE NEWS. MS HAS SUSPENDED ALL VISITS FROM TERRIS PARENTS
Pooh, of course you are.
There is some impatience in forum because this case has been front and center for a long time. Freepers have investigated it more thoroughly than law enforcement officials (by a lot!). Newbies bring in a lot of uninformed opinion -- not to mention troll-twitter. We have to explain important facts over and over. Meanwhile, a decent woman is being cruelly put to death -- and the man directly responsible very probably caused her condition by assaulting her in a domestic fight in 1990. (No, she didn't collapse due to dieting.)
You say, for one, that the spouse should decide. That is a good principle in untroublesome cases. However, the law has exceptions for spouses who are interested parties. You can't have a man ordering his wife's death when he stands to inherit a lot of money by doing it. You can't have him as legal guardian when he cannot fully represent HER interests for any number of other reasons. And you really shouldn't let him be guardian when he tried to kill her in the first place (as I have come to believe in this case).
All of these objections can be raised to Michael's legal-guardian status, but the judge has disallowed all objections. Michael has concealed records of Terri's care. That's not allowed either. He has failed to submit the proper care plans to the court. That always gets excused. He stands accused of many other failures and abuses of his estranged wife. They all get dismissed, always.
The law supposedly does not allow hearsay, either, but it allowed Michael to "remember" -- years later -- that Terri would not like to live like this because of a remark she supposedly made watching a television show. There is no evidence of this at all. It is inadmissible -- hearsay. She did not express her wishes in any legally valid way or sign a living will. She was 26, for pete's sake! The judge not only accepted the unsupported hearsay, he dismissed contrary testimony, though it was more persuasive. That's the ONLY excuse they can use for killing her -- she "wishes" them to. It's a lie.
Terri is not a vegetable, not ill, not dying. She is treatable, though after years of being deprived of therapy, we'll have to wait and see how much she can still be helped.
That is too bad. It is just making things worse. I have a strong feeling that there has been bad blood between him and the family before this even happened.
OMG! He/her low life husband has taken all visitation away from the family now.
He really is evil!
I guess Michael and Felos are going to PUNISH them even more!!!
That should tell us all we need to know about these people!!!
It is a production to have effect.
Bluntly speaking,you have been conned.
But carry on! I am now enjoying the carnage!
Since preventing it is no longer a option.
ping to 347 as to why I favor Congressional intervention.
Her husband won't allow an MRI or a PET scan.
