Both sides of the debate consider themselves to be Schiavo defenders. As someone who wishes for her suffering to end, I feel that allowing her to move on to the after-life is an act of mercy.

Then let's call it what you want to call it: euthanasia. And if you were so concerned for her suffering, then why aren't you advocating for her to get a lethal injection? Death by starvation and dehydration is horribly cruel and painful. I don't buy your arguement for one second.

The way the subpoena was written, and distributed to at least a half dozen parties, it appeared to me that the whole chain from Greer to through the facility administrators to the lowly nurse or doctor caring for Terri are susceptible to Contempt of Congress if Terri fails to testify.

Given that it is contempt to interfer with the subpoena can US Marshalls interven to keep her in protective custody - perhaps like they did in the Ellian Gonzalez case there in Florida?

I don't know a whole helluva lot about legislative subpoenas but if a federal court thought a witness was in jeopardy, there's no doubt he or she would be in the custody of the US Marshalls.

Trial Court Judges do not like anyone telling them what they can do in THEIR courtroom.

This is what botthers me about this case.

If Terry is unaware of what is going on then there is no harm for her parents to care for a vegitable that does not know what is happening to her. She is already gone and unaware.

If Terry IS awar of what is going on then there is a harm that can happen. Since awareness implies brain capacity to rehab.

So the court has found the first scenario to be true and yet refuses the second possibility.

I finally got through to Gov. Bush's office! It ook me about half an hour to get through. "The Gov has done all he can do and she can't comment on the case."

I said people don't believe that.
People are reading the statutes and know the Gov has the authority to take someone into protective custody.

I also said if DCF isn't going to do their job, save the taxpayers some money and get rid of them. No one has confidence in the Government right now!

Apparently its only terrible if you assume that she would want to starve herself to death. If she had written down - I would want to eat, I would like to have something to drink - then those who want her to die would think that was terrible.

I do wonder about this.... only God knows what's in these men's hearts but the thought of someone suffering such a prolonged and horrible death sears my soul! Our world is becoming more and more evil by the day and I often wonder where it will end....

Last time, she was given morphine, but her parents objected to the treatment.

Her brain cortex is gone or almost gone. Her brain stem is still working.
