Sweet Jesus.... are you kidding me??? Dear God in Heaven, Michael Schiavo isn't the only pyschopath in this case after all. I remember it well, and it's true. They also wouldn't allow Terri's longtime priest to administer the last rights because he might place a little piece of a host on her tongue.

I am a nurse. The DNR laws were written with good intentions but they have been terribly abused. If you have a DNR order on your chart you are guaranteed to get lousy care in the hospital.
Then you work in the wrong hospital. Having worked in approximately 50 hospitals in my career, I have NEVER witnessed what you describe. In fact, a common saying at most of these hospitals is "do not resuscitate does not mean do not care". If you truly think you have witnessed poor care based on a DNR order, it's your moral obligation to report it. Believe me, in today's climate, an anonymous report to JAHCO or other accrediting agencies, with DETAILS of deliberate substandard care, would bring a swift response.

I agree completely. It is an amazing miracle, expatguy, and I cannot imagine the horror of what you experienced.

That "silly" phrase means that what he is stating may not comport with the facts. Obviously you don't need to use that phrase, because yours clearly do not. BWAAAhAHA. Pot, meet kettle. He's white but you can call him black.

How does that work? Greer has the power to starve a congressional witness to death? Man, I guess. There's still a chance for the U.S. House and Senate to pass their bill to help out, per Rush Limbaugh today.

Just had an interview on Sean Hannity with a woman who came out of the same type of deal you describe. She said she was trapped, could feel everything, and could not respond. She was also written off as dead.
As she put it on Hannity: "Am I not the most interesting vegetable you've ever talked too?"
She's heading to FL from what I understand.

I could be wrong of course, but I have this strange feeling that something is going to happen to prevent her from dying. I don't know what it will be and things don't look good right now, but I think something is going to happen soon. Don't give up hope.

Last time I believe it was the estranged husband's girlfriend and her mother who got to witness the attempted murder.
After all, her blood family might try to slip her an ice cube chip or let a drop of water touch her tongue

I had not followed this case closely till recently. I am appalled by this aspect of it--that this concubine and mother, who are no relation to Terri and can have no love or compassion for her, will witness her murder. I can only assume they are happy to do so, why else would they do it? Sick, venal, vile people.
When day they will all stand before God. And their record awaits them.

Undoubtedly they will if I am any indication. I donate considerable sums each year and if Terri dies, I'm out of the Republican Party.
To: stylin_geek
Why would Michael Schiavo deny Terri her last rites? Think about that.

What is the reason her husband is trying to kill her and how did she get into this condition. Mysterious collapse. Evidence of broken bones way back then. Insurance money. Evidence of abuse (loud screaming arguments heard by neighbors). Estrangement (other women in his life).

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy! You have said it all. Thank you so much!
To: expatguy
That's what is bothering me too -- she has no say. She is not on a respirator and how do they know she isn't hearing and feeling pain, etc. The answer is they don't.
Just makes you wonder where she would have been today if she had been in rehab -- without that opportunity, it is wrong to starve her to death. She deserves a chance -- miracles do happen and you are living proof of that IMHO!

Between this and the total lack of coverage of the child in Texas who was taken off a ventilator over his parents objections I just do not understand what the media has become. Or maybe what our society is becoming.

Update: the husband wasn't even present when they removed the feeding tube. What an SOB. Amazing...
Congressman Dave Weldon on Fox and says MS will sue for medical malpratic. What is up with that?
Fox is now filling in the blanks for me.
