Greer gives order
"Newt said that this particular subpoena has a SHALL provision in it. He stressed that it was the SHALL provision that makes Greer in contempt."
Excellent news! No lawyer by any means, but 'shall' is a very clear statement, I would say.
Since Greer renewed the order after Congress asked her to appear, he could be in contempt of congress. However, it's like Terri is a pedestrian versus a car in this example. She could have had the green walk light and end up right, but dead right.
If the family attempts to feed Terri or even put an ice chip in her mouth, the 3 police officers in Terri's room will demand that they leave the room. The police officers are standing guard to make sure Terri's family does not feed her by mouth.
"JUST IMAGINE: YOUR CHILD IS BEING MURDERED IN A ROOM - YOU ARE MADE TO LEAVE - HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?????

"Terri told what is happening: Terri cried"
Attorney Barbara Weller was with Terri earlier today. She told the media that, during her visit with Terri, she explained to her what was happening. According to Weller, Terri began to cry and could not be quieted. She tried to coach Terri to say "Let me live" but she simply was having too much difficulty.
Congress is reported by local news to still hold be holding hearings on this matter. It is unclear at this stage who will win this tug of war - the United States or a probate judge from Clearwater. All that is known is that an innocent life is in the balance.
Even so - for spiritual reasons - they could give her a host that dissolves on the tongue. They could give her a SPECK of a host, and its valid communion. This kind of denial is diabolical and nothing less.
Will Terri's mother even be let in the room?
She can't take communion.
Greer has ordered she be given NOTHING to eat or drink.
I believe that there was a woman attorney in her room today and when she told Terri they were taking the tube out, Terri began to cry and said words that sounded like "I want to live."
Terri became very distraught and it was hard to calm her down.
excellent point!
I remain optimistic that Congress won't take this lying down.
Yup. There's a lot of new signups trolling Terri threads. You have no idea how many. A lot end up banned because they eventually cross the line and use personal insults aimed at other posters or the use deragatory terms for Terri. And some even say the same thing about changing ISPs. If it's true in your case it's a shame because of the stories of others.
As I understand it, Greer may be in deep trouble right now if the subpeona was in relation to a criminal complaint. I think he's in trouble anyway for interfering with a Congressional investigation and if the congresscritters have a set, they'll use force to enforce their actions.
Were I Greer, I'd run from this situation as fast and as far as possible.
My deepest concern is that with the level of emotion in this case, I pray that violence is averted but I can see it coming.
Mike
The judge is in contempt. Gingrich on Hannity was just talking about this.
Nurses say she says some words. Hard to say without a videotape (which I thought i heard michael also forbids now that those other videos of her looking cognizant got out)
So are they from the Sheriff's department where MS has connections?
I believe not.
I think he said 'he can be held in contempt.'
This is what I want to know, too. That SOB "husband" of hers has denied them access to her before, and even refused a priest from giving her LAST RITES! So how is this supposed to work? They pull the tube, turn off the lights and shut the door, then come back 10 days later to collect the body? I mean, seriously, how is this supposed to play out? Do they expect the hospital staff to "comfort" her while they watch her body shrivel and eyes sink from lack of fluids? How nice.... "Don't worry, Terri, I'll hold your hand while your major organs shut down one by one... oh excuse me for a moment, dear, I'm just going to the vending machine for a diet Coke..."
He's not in contempt until a federal judge rules he is.
And if a federal court turns it down, it's back to Florida.
