We should sell arms to the Republic of China (Taiwan), the legitimate government of China, and cut off our trade with Red China. Thei economy would fall apart faster than you could say "Mao Tse-tung" and they wouldn't be in a position to threaten anyone.

We have passed the point of no return - our economy is so tied into China's economy that we would have an economic collapse if we broke with China.

They have nuclear warheads pointed at us. I'm willing to take the damage that our economy might suffer to destroy Red China. We can take it a lot better than they can.

China is not so "Red" these days. Dictatorial? Of course - but they only pay lip service to Marxisim.

It's still one of the worst tyrannies in the world. It's a police stae and one of the world's worst violators of human rights.

Red China has nuclear warheads aimed at our country. That's reason enough to go after them.

It's an imperialist power that wants to take over a sovereign country, the Republic of China.

China made an agreement that it would not send its slave-labor products to this country, but they continue to do so -- at sub-market prices.

The economic weapon is the main one that we have -- it is time to use it.

Europeans are desperate for jobs and economic growth needed to keep all of their Socialistic Governments in power.
Arms deliveries to China are on line with what their God Karl Marx preached: Capitalism will destroy itself.
A little help so they think, will just speed things up in our favor.
This makes them dangerous, by doing as much as they can get away with.
Europeans feel that their trade with the U.S. is protected and garnered by contracts, agreements, the WTO, so nothing detrimental can happen there.
Europeans also calculate this to be a win win situation towards pulling the U.S. down.
The French originally announced that within 10 years this new formed European Union will economically outpace the U.S.
Figuring that this arms delivery to China is one of the vehicles to reach this economic target is a solid dose of schadenfreude.

Destro you are consistently reserved about your opinion of China. Wake up, they are a threat, regardless if they pay heed to Marxism. Isms are not the point of discussion.

China is a threat and that threat is becoming more so each day. Again, at the risk of sounding like a ****ed conspiracy theorist, we are facing a crisis with a country who's military not only outnumbers us but who's resources are further available in this economic environment.

I just questions how "red" China was these days - you need not be red and opressive.

The EU is many things but it is not Marxist.

Of course it is a threat!!! What is wrong with some people on FreeRepublic - because I ponder more accurate descriptions - I seem to upset the simple minded sheeple who can't function with thoughts beyond slogans. KNOW YOUR ENEMY means you try and analyze them to a fine point of accuracy.

China's exports and where they go...

...less than 10% goes to the US. ~40% of PRC exports go to Hong Kong; interestingly, about the same % of Hong Kong exports go to the PRC. Would taking away 10% of PRC exports collapse their economy? I don't think so.

Additionally, assuming the PRC played tit for tat and snuffed our exports to them, it would make a 4% dent in US exports. Not that big a deal one could say, but it'd still be a $28.4B (that's what we did with them in 2003, latest data I could find; probably more now) hit on US exporters.

The graph data for PRC exports I found at a China Biz site. The numbers for US import/export I got here.

"We have passed the point of no return - our economy is so tied into China's economy that we would have an economic collapse if we broke with China."

Nonsense. The Chinese import surplus with the U.S. is a mere $110 Billion.

The U.S. economy, on the other hand, has a $12 Trillion GDP.

Thus, Chinese trade is less than a tenth of a percent of our overall economy.

Don't mistake trinkets in Wal-Mart as a sign of a trade dependency.

"We should sell arms to the Republic of China (Taiwan), the legitimate government of China, and cut off our trade with Red China."

Right now we needn't play all of our cards. China may end up playing ball with us, anyway. She's at war with radical Islamists in her remote Xinjiang province, after all, much as we are in Afghanistan.

But if she goes the other way by turning hostile against Taiwan, we may choose to play a little bit rougher.

cut off our trade with Red China.

It is getting somewhat past the era of old Red China. It's just China now. There are still some old ChiComs around, too. If we cut off trade, we would damage our own economy as well. It's not so simple.

It's exactly that simple. Our economy can absorb the hit. Theirs wouold callapse faster than you can say "Mao Tse-tung."

The Chicoms have nuclear warheads pointed at our West Coast. This is not acceptable, even if it is only Hollywood.

They made a treaty that they would not dump their slave labor goods in our country and they went right on doing it. Even liberal "60 Minutes" exposed that.

They are making imperialist therats against the Republic of China.

They intend to take ove rthe whole Pacific Rim.

And they are perhaps the most tyrannical state on Earth, and one of the worst human-rights violators.

They must be stopped. They cannot be allopwd to become a countervailing power to the United States, which is what they plan.

The only real weapons we have are to arm the ROC to the hilt (which we should do) and to cut off our trade with them (whcih we should do.)

Still, if ew can cut off 10 percent of their exportt economy, that is a major hit.

Economies can be rebuilt. Taiwan's 23 million people cannot.
