IMO, the Terri Schindler-Schiavo case is the stone selected to kill two birds:

To strengthen the culture of death ........and to defeat the Republicans - Peggy Noonan:  'Don't Kick It'   If Terri Schiavo is killed, Republicans will pay a political price.
